Update!!

Its been two weeks, and I don’t even have pictures!!  Here are my reasons…yes, I have reasons!

1.)  Paint

2.) Tile

3.) Paint

4.) Paint

5.) cleaning sawdust

6.)  Paint

7.)  No internet

8.)  Trying to use my sisters internet while having 2 kids run around is a bit challenging!

Okay, does that excuse my two weeks of silence???  Here’s what I can tell you.  I did get our bathroom tiled.  Challenging but rewarding.  Ry did get my vanity in, it’s beautiful and it’s the first time in 2 months that I don’t have to spit into the bathtub to brush my teeth:) all smiles!  And also Kynlees room is 99% complete, and let me tell you…the chandelier is stinkin adorable.  Yay!

So, I told ry that we really need to look into getting our internet hooked up next week.  He agreed.  I am in the process of finding the best deal, so hopefully by next week I can blog from home and more often!

I promise, pics are coming soon, please stay tuned!!

A Sheet Rockin Party

Things have changed a bit in our house, and I have to tell you…it’s getting for the better:)  It seems like my mood shifts so much these days, especially with the cooler weather!  I can’t help but think about cooking soups and baking cookies in my “non-existent” kitchen.  Or curl up with my latest Better Homes and Gardens by the fire.  But, after a small pity party that I try to keep to myself, I think, wow…I am so excited to see how this is going to turn out and hope it will all be worth it:)  So, labor day weekend we called a crew in to finally cover up that awful lathe and insulation that has been glaring at me for the past 2 months.  It’s amazing how bright it gets with a little bit of white on the walls.  Here is how she’ coming along!

I know, the floors are still there.  The last menace in my side.  But, there is white on the walls and a sneak peek of the posts we got for the stairs.  The window wall will be sink under the window, dishwasher bottom left and refrigerator way right.  Oh, and good news, our cabinet guy came out and can tweak and use all the cabinets we got, yay!  They will work:)

The main floor bath now has walls, and a toilet!  No more running upstairs to use the potty:)

Kynlee’s room already has a light pink coat of paint on it…super pale but I’m loving it.  I can’t wait to get my hands on those floors!!

and the staircase.  I can paint the rest of the upstairs this weekend!  Hooray:)

Oh, and this is how my kids use the sheetrock…

There’s a pretty good little fort somewhere in there!  With two cute little kids hiding:)

So…next on the agenda

1.)  I’m tiling our bathroom tomorrow night.  HA!  Never done it a day in my life but I watched a few you tube videos on it and will say a little prayer.  More to come…

2.)  Painting Kynlees floor.  Can’t wait to see how these white wood floors turn out!

3.)  Trim trim and more trim.  Painting that is.  Hopefully one of these days we can get some up:)

4.)  Sanding and painting cabinets.  Quite the job but so worth the free cabinets!  I’ll let you know what color I decided on!

Hopefully you’ll see a couple of these projects completed in the next week…hopefully!

Free Cabinets!!

Alright, here’s the deal…remember my Martha Stewart kitchen I just loved??  The one I found out that the one pantry piece was $3500, almost our whole cabinet budget???  Now, I am not that naive to think that cabinets are cheap, but we also are on a pretty tight budget and can’t be spending $30,000 on cabinets and appliances!  So, I said goodbye to my dear sweet kitchen..

She still tugs at some heart strings though!

The new plan was to go to good old Menards, purchase unfinished cabinets in our budget, and paint them the same sharkey gray as Martha’s are.  I can handle that….I don’t need anything too fancy.  Sure it would be  nice, but not a must.  So that’s where it stood up until about a month ago, until Ryan’s mom called.

We got the call that there were some potential “free” cabinets for us.  My first thought was great…now Ryan’s going to make me use these because they are free, no matter what they look like.  I’d rather just pick out my own cheapy cabinets.  That was until I heard a bit more about them.  I found out they were only 3 years old, came out of a very expensive townhome, and were custom.  When I heard I was going to get a garbage pull out cabinet I was sold.  Oh, and a spice drawer…and seperator (sp?) for lids and trays.  Okay, enough about the cabinets, here are a few of the pictures that I took, of the picture…so sorry about the quality.

Here they are.  If you are a wood lover, sorry!  They are getting painted, huge surprise….I know!  I loved the classic shaker style they have.  I might see if I can get new door fronts for the flat drawers, we’ll see.  Since we are going to piece them together paint is actually the best way to go.

So the plan was to paint them my dearly beloved Sharkey Gray and recreate them as best as possible:)  Until I ran into this kitchen…

Pretty huh?

I’ll give you a little more eye candy..

Soothing:)  You can find the rest of her blog site here .  I haven’t gotten to puruse the site too much yet, but she’s seems like a really neat lady!

So now the dilemma…which gray to go.  I know,  a huge dilemma.  Not really at all, but I also don’t care to paint cabinets twice if you know what I mean.  I did buy a pint of the
Bejamin Moore “fieldstone” that was used in the second kitchen and painted a little table with it.  I like it, it’s a bit more dramatic and warm.  I also love the airyness of the Sharkey Gray and the coastal feel it has.  So, comments would be appreciated.  The cabinets come the end of this week!! Yikes and yay!!
