THE BEGINNING OF CHRISTMAS ALONG WITH SOME UPDATES

IMG_5918

Whimsy is done for the year, and as much as I love it, I’m always so glad to be able to take a deep breath, snuggle in, and enjoy a few months off.  Usually that first month or so also is spent doing a few projects around the house that I’ve been eyeing up for awhile.  I’m happy to report that most of those projects have been wrapped up already, and I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on:) My … Continue Reading »

THE STORY OF WHIMSY GREEN

IMG_0033

As we just wrapped up our last Whimsy Green sale of the year, I can’t help but marvel at what the Lord has taken as a hobby and turned into a full fledged business, and what we love to think as also a ministry.  A lot of people ask how Whimsy Green came to be, and we keep scratching out heads trying to figure out how it has evolved into what it has, so I thought I would share our story with you … Continue Reading »

WHIMSY CHRISTMAS SALE

IMG_5774

I feel like I have been non-existent this last month.  Well, not really non-existent, maybe more just home bound.  The fact of the matter is we have only 5 weeks turn around from our fall Whimsy Green sale to our Christmas sale, which is our biggest sale of the year.  And our customers are so amazing that we sold out of almost everything, which means we have to start completely over and create our biggest inventory all within 4 weeks.  So with that … Continue Reading »

PLANKING, PLANKING, AND MORE PLANKING

IMG_5757

If you follow me on instagram you saw this photo the other day…. a torn apart living room with walls getting planked.  I picked up these boards the other day at Menards when it was 11% off.  They are called Luann there, and are that reddish color on both sides.  I think they run about $10-$11 for a 4×8 foot sheet.  Ryan helped me cut it down to 6″ planks the other day, so I was ready to start hanging.  I’ve had a … Continue Reading »

WELL IT’S ABOUT TIME….MY FALL TOUR IS FINALLY UP

IMG_5718

I can’t even believe I’m blogging the night before our big Whimsy sale.  Usually we are working until 11:00 in the barn and scrambling to get everything done.  Amazingly, we have put the whole shop together in 24 hours this sale.  I don’t even know how that’s possible, if you saw the before and after you would think it’s impossible as well.  Needless to say, I’m excited to have a few minutes to sit down and blog my fall tour.  I snapped some … Continue Reading »

THROWBACK TO MY FALL TOUR 2014

IMG_4713

Since I’m not quite ready to decorate my house just yet for fall….although I feel the time is coming..SOON!  I thought I’d give you my tour from last year to help get you all motivated!  It’s always fun to look back and see the changes and how I might tweak or add for this year.  Although I don’t go crazy fall, I love adding texture and neutrals to play up all the colors outside.  Since we have so many windows, I feel like … Continue Reading »

TAKE A PIECE OF STOCK FURNITURE AND MAKE IT YOUR OWN

IMG_5593

I’ve been up to a few changes around here.  And I’ve had them done for awhile, I just haven’t shared them yet.  Why? You ask?  Welp, mostly because that requires me to have a clean kitchen, long enough to snap photos, and get them uploaded and on the the blog.  A task that has proven quite hard these last few months with a crawling babe around:) There you have it . True life.  My kitchen is not always spotless.  “gasp” But, I finally … Continue Reading »

DIY WOOD SHUTTERS & A FRONT DOOR FACELIFT

IMG_5536-001

So my last blog post I mentioned how I added New Panes in my front door and picture window.  I just loved the character that it added!  And since I felt like I had a whole new door, I wanted to give the outside a bit of a face lift too!  The last time I did anything with the front entry was when I painted my stairs.   And although the painted steps helped to spruce it up a bit, there were still issues. … Continue Reading »

OUR WEEK WITHOUT SCREENS AND A FAVORITE PRODUCT!

IMG_5511

Well, I survived a week without screens.  And through the process I learned a few things. 1.) I learned that it really wasn’t hard for me to put my phone down (surprisingly). 2.)  Don’t give up screens when your husband decides to work 70+ hours that week. 3.)  And if you really wanna do yourself in, take away the kids screens as well! Ha!  I really feel like Satan was working over time this last week to GET ME TO FAIL.  And I … Continue Reading »

NO SCREENS, THE BOYS ROOM, AND AN ETSY SHOP YOU HAVE TO CHECK OUT

IMG_5483

Well now isn’t that just a bit random for a title :)  But I have lots to share. First of all I wanted to share with you all how I am doing ONE WHOLE DAY IN WITH NO SCREENS!  You may be thinking to yourself.  Wait!  I’m reading a screen right now that you are typing from.  Well, this is true.  Since I view my blog as more my job, I am allowing myself to continue blogging.  What I am NOT allowing myself … Continue Reading »

ONE WHO SEPERATES

I was sitting in church this Sunday, listening to amazing worship and a great sermon, and for some reason I just felt this fog over my heart.  I was hearing the words but just couldn’t seem to make them affect my heart.  Maybe it was the 11 month old squirming on my lap, or the fact that I feel like I’ve been tired for the last 11 months straight.  But deep down I knew it was something more.  Deep down I knew it … Continue Reading »

CUSTOM SHELVING FOR UNDER $100

IMG_5464

The office/work room project continues.  I think my biggest problem this far has been storage in that room.  It just collects.  If you know what I mean.  So this time my plan was to incorporate some major shelving.  I wanted it to look custom but knew the hubs would never go for anything with a “custom” price tag.  So I went to Pinterest and found this inspirations..   So I followed the link and found an amazing tutorial of how to make these … Continue Reading »

THE OFFICE THAT JUST KEEPS EVOLVING….

You guys, my office.  I can’t figure it out.  It’s called an office.  It housed our desktop computer that is 8 years old and we never use because it’s slower than slow.  But since it had a computer we could officially have a desk and call it an office. What we really should have called it though was useless space. The desk collected junk, the keyboard was covered and the power button was never turned on.  Piles of crafting and whimsy stuff would … Continue Reading »

AND THEN THERE WAS FURNITURE….AND A DEAD DEER

I know I should be posting more frequent updates on the man cave, as things are progressing.  But there are only so many hours in the day……and I can’t find the rest:)  So, a lot has been going on.  We got the floors in…yay!  We chose to do pine 1×10’s.  We went back and forth between laminate, faux wood tile, and pine, and finally decided on pine, for a number of reasons. 1.)  It was the least expensive. 2.)  It was the most … Continue Reading »

MY MOTHERS DAY PRESENT

I know it’s waaaayyy past mothers day, but I’m finally getting around to showing you all my present.  To myself.  Ha!  Anyone else do that?? This is about how presents go in our house. Me:  “Hey honey, I’m at target and I found something really cute, did you want me to buy my own Mothers day present?” Ryan:  “You know what? That would be great.  I’m glad you like it!” Me:  “You always know just what to get me :)” Happens for about … Continue Reading »

LITTLE BY LITTLE

When we moved to this house, we brought all of our furniture with us.  Some of that furniture we got when we got married, some I had from college, a lot I had thrifted or DIY’d and a lot we had to “make do” until we could afford something else.  Well, when we bought the farmhouse, all of our budget went into gutting, renovating, and updating the actual structure, and nothing was left over for fun furniture buys:) So we brought our old … Continue Reading »

THIS WORLD WE LIVE IN…

Sometimes I love this world we live in, other times I despise it. I love God’s beauty when I look out my kitchen window, I love the giggles I hear coming out of my kids mouths, I love the people that hold me up, support me, and love me regardless.  I love the fact that I can use my gifts to create, explore, and challenge myself.  I love a lot of it because it is all I know. But yet I despise it. … Continue Reading »

PROGRESS ON THE MANCAVE

Well, a lot has been going on in that little man cave of mine…I mean Ryan’s…  :) It’s coming along so well that I kind of want to claim it for myself!  But alas, soon dead animals will inhabit it and I may have to hand over the torch. *sigh* So the last I showed you on here, was when Ryan had finished the planking but hadn’t painted anything yet.  It looked like this… and if you have been following along with me … Continue Reading »

BUT I DON’T WANNA….

I’m not outgoing by nature. I’m awful at going up to people I don’t know and introducing myself. I’m not a natural leader. I’m somewhat of an introvert. I’m a homebody. I find myself getting worked up if I have more than one or two things going on in a week. I love deep relationships and have found I only need a few in my life.  This way I feel like I can truly invest into them. Therefore when I found out I … Continue Reading »
