CHRISTMAS HOUSE TOUR–PART 1

Tis the season for all the color in our little farmhouse…and I love it!! Although I’m loving seeing all the gorgeous decor of all colors or non-colors….this little house begs for a pop of red:) And plaid is still super popular this year…praise Jesus! Because I love these Pottery Barn plaid pillow covers I got last year:) and I really should go around my house and count how many little trees I have.  It may be getting out of hand:) Honestly, I barely … Continue Reading »

FALL HOME TOUR–FALL FARMHOUSE DECOR

Fall is my favorite season, I love the colors, the smell, the cooler weather.  I love everything about it, everything except that it’s my busiest season.  So lately I’ve been wishing away the last few weeks of fall and I”m kinda sad about that.  One of these years I’ll figure out how to balance out my work load.  This just wasn’t the year. So, I’m late to the fall decor game.  Not because my house hasn’t been decorated, but because I haven’t had … Continue Reading »

MAKING A TRANSOM WINDOW FOR $10 AND A LIVING ROOM UPDATE

I did a project quite a while back that I have never showed you guys yet, and thought it was finally time…because it’s one that I am super happy with how it turned out:)  When we bought the farmhouse I was super happy with all of the tall windows it had.  It let in sooo much light.  I especially liked this HUGE window they had put in the living room area. Throwing it waaaaaayyy back to when we first moved it! But you … Continue Reading »

A VACATION AT MY PARENTS NEW HOUSE

I packed myself, a trailer, and 4 kids to head to Wisconsin this last week.  We were on the road to do our first Whimsy Green trunk show.  Although I was excited to do the trunk show, I was almost more excited to be staying at my parents house.  You see, I grew up in Mosinee, Wisconsin and we lived in the same house our whole lives.  It was a great house, super spacious, and on the Wisconsin River.  When we all moved … Continue Reading »

A BATHROOM REFRESH

There were a couple things on my “nesting” list that had nothing to do with baby, but everything to do with wanting to get it done before baby came.  One was to get shelving in our toy closet located in the living room.  We didn’t touch it since we moved in, and used the existing shelves that were in there for the last 5 years.  Every time the kids tried to get one thing out an avalanche would occur.  I dreaded it everytime! … Continue Reading »

CHRISTMAS CLEAN UP

Well, I just took my Christmas tree down today.  And honestly, it was a little painful.  Our real tree this year was an allstar, and wasn’t dropping any needles yet.  We finally got snow outside and the days are still soo short, I was tempted to leave it up til the end of January:)  Twinkle lights are my favorite:)  I must say though, now that it’s done, it feels good.  Opens up the living room again and gives the kids a little more … Continue Reading »

BEYOND THE DECORATIONS…

Holy Moly Christmas is less than two weeks away.  How does that happen every.year.  I think I’m going to be so on top of things.  I start decorating early, I get Christmas shopping done early, my baking is done, I’ve been listening to Christmas music for two months now, but still….it creeps up on me.  Sometimes I wish Christmas was January 25th so it would help to speed up winter.  But alas, Christmas is upon us! So I thought I’d share this little … Continue Reading »

CHRISTMAS TIME–DINING ROOM

I’ve decided that a home school family can’t have a photo shoot ready house.  ever.  I feel like I end up chasing my own tail all.day.long.  So for those of you who think that bloggers actually live in a house that looks like their pictures…don’t be so easily fooled.  At least if they have young children.  It’s just not possible.  And I am a little OCD about my house being picked up.  But picked up, dishes done, coats away, toys out of sight, … Continue Reading »

PLANKING, PLANKING, AND MORE PLANKING

If you follow me on instagram you saw this photo the other day…. a torn apart living room with walls getting planked.  I picked up these boards the other day at Menards when it was 11% off.  They are called Luann there, and are that reddish color on both sides.  I think they run about $10-$11 for a 4×8 foot sheet.  Ryan helped me cut it down to 6″ planks the other day, so I was ready to start hanging.  I’ve had a … Continue Reading »

WELL IT’S ABOUT TIME….MY FALL TOUR IS FINALLY UP

I can’t even believe I’m blogging the night before our big Whimsy sale.  Usually we are working until 11:00 in the barn and scrambling to get everything done.  Amazingly, we have put the whole shop together in 24 hours this sale.  I don’t even know how that’s possible, if you saw the before and after you would think it’s impossible as well.  Needless to say, I’m excited to have a few minutes to sit down and blog my fall tour.  I snapped some … Continue Reading »

THROWBACK TO MY FALL TOUR 2014

Since I’m not quite ready to decorate my house just yet for fall….although I feel the time is coming..SOON!  I thought I’d give you my tour from last year to help get you all motivated!  It’s always fun to look back and see the changes and how I might tweak or add for this year.  Although I don’t go crazy fall, I love adding texture and neutrals to play up all the colors outside.  Since we have so many windows, I feel like … Continue Reading »

OUR WEEK WITHOUT SCREENS AND A FAVORITE PRODUCT!

Well, I survived a week without screens.  And through the process I learned a few things. 1.) I learned that it really wasn’t hard for me to put my phone down (surprisingly). 2.)  Don’t give up screens when your husband decides to work 70+ hours that week. 3.)  And if you really wanna do yourself in, take away the kids screens as well! Ha!  I really feel like Satan was working over time this last week to GET ME TO FAIL.  And I … Continue Reading »

NO SCREENS, THE BOYS ROOM, AND AN ETSY SHOP YOU HAVE TO CHECK OUT

Well now isn’t that just a bit random for a title :)  But I have lots to share. First of all I wanted to share with you all how I am doing ONE WHOLE DAY IN WITH NO SCREENS!  You may be thinking to yourself.  Wait!  I’m reading a screen right now that you are typing from.  Well, this is true.  Since I view my blog as more my job, I am allowing myself to continue blogging.  What I am NOT allowing myself … Continue Reading »

CUSTOM SHELVING FOR UNDER $100

The office/work room project continues.  I think my biggest problem this far has been storage in that room.  It just collects.  If you know what I mean.  So this time my plan was to incorporate some major shelving.  I wanted it to look custom but knew the hubs would never go for anything with a “custom” price tag.  So I went to Pinterest and found this inspirations..   So I followed the link and found an amazing tutorial of how to make these … Continue Reading »

THE OFFICE THAT JUST KEEPS EVOLVING….

You guys, my office.  I can’t figure it out.  It’s called an office.  It housed our desktop computer that is 8 years old and we never use because it’s slower than slow.  But since it had a computer we could officially have a desk and call it an office. What we really should have called it though was useless space. The desk collected junk, the keyboard was covered and the power button was never turned on.  Piles of crafting and whimsy stuff would … Continue Reading »

AND THEN THERE WAS FURNITURE….AND A DEAD DEER

I know I should be posting more frequent updates on the man cave, as things are progressing.  But there are only so many hours in the day……and I can’t find the rest:)  So, a lot has been going on.  We got the floors in…yay!  We chose to do pine 1×10’s.  We went back and forth between laminate, faux wood tile, and pine, and finally decided on pine, for a number of reasons. 1.)  It was the least expensive. 2.)  It was the most … Continue Reading »

MY MOTHERS DAY PRESENT

I know it’s waaaayyy past mothers day, but I’m finally getting around to showing you all my present.  To myself.  Ha!  Anyone else do that?? This is about how presents go in our house. Me:  “Hey honey, I’m at target and I found something really cute, did you want me to buy my own Mothers day present?” Ryan:  “You know what? That would be great.  I’m glad you like it!” Me:  “You always know just what to get me :)” Happens for about … Continue Reading »

LITTLE BY LITTLE

When we moved to this house, we brought all of our furniture with us.  Some of that furniture we got when we got married, some I had from college, a lot I had thrifted or DIY’d and a lot we had to “make do” until we could afford something else.  Well, when we bought the farmhouse, all of our budget went into gutting, renovating, and updating the actual structure, and nothing was left over for fun furniture buys:) So we brought our old … Continue Reading »

AN UPDATED GUEST HOUSE TOUR

I couldn’t do it you guys.  I thought maybe if it was a guest house, I could do color.  If it wasn’t in my everyday vision I could live with it.  I could live on the wild side, abandon my neutral palette, and use color in the guest house. I caved. At least I gave it a go right??  I think it lasted 2 years, not bad for this girl! So I have just been doing a little re-decorating in the guest house. … Continue Reading »
