FAITH OVER FEAR

Faith over fear

Ever since hearing that quote I can't stop thinking on how true it is.  And to be honest with you, there have been seasons of my life where I let the fear of the future steal my peace.  I looked at where our country is heading, I looked at the world my kids are growing up in, I looked at the hopelessness all around me, and I can easily swing into a state of darkness.

BUT....

Then when I look back and see how God has been FAITHFUL.  Faithful through the death of my daughter.   Faithful through the death of my dad.  Faithful when I jeopardized my own business to be obedient to what God laid on my heart.  He never disappointed.  Even though I walked through circumstances that could have wrecked a person.  He never left me.  So if God can literally get me through the shadows of the valley of death, He can get me through anything that comes my way in the future.  He does not disappoint.

As we have been reading through the Bible this year (yay if you are with me!)  the one thing that stood out to me was how often God reminded the Israelites of how faithful He was.  He continually goes back and tells them how He delivered them out of the hands of Pharaoh.  How he provided for all of their needs during their 40 years of wandering in the desert.  How he fulfilled his promise He gave to Abraham and Isaac.  How he multiplied them to more than the stars in the universe.  He wanted them to write this on their hearts.  To share it with their kids.  To pass it down to all their future generations.   They made it into a song and were told to celebrate it every year.

It is imperative for our peace and our joy that we remember How faithful God is.  That we look back in our lives and see what God has done for us.  That we stand firm on the promises that He gives us in His word and that we testify to His goodness when we are faced with fear of the future.  I added just a couple of the verses that are so great to memorize to help us look back with faith instead of to the future with fear.  Meditate on them, memorize them, hide them in your heart so that you can stand on them when trouble comes your way.

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."

 Psalm 46:1-3

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Isaiah 41:10

The enemy would want nothing more than to come and steal our peace.  It paralyzes us.  It stops us from living out the calling God has placed on us.  It handicaps us from speaking life into our families and building with confidence on the firm foundation that God has given us.  So today, instead of looking into the future with fear, look back in faith and walk in the confidence knowing God is with you, that He will use you, and He is ALWAYS faithful to those who put their trust in Him!
