KYNLEES ROOM REVEAL–TWEEN BEDROOM

Kynlees room got a bit of a makeover ever since the boys moved into our old master once the addition was done. She moved out of the small bedroom which became Ruby’s nursery, and into the larger room where she has a little room to grow into. I wanted to have her room be a little more sophisticated since she’s 9 and will grow into it. Yet it’s still playful with the pink ruffles and heart theme:)

Amazingly my sweet doctor gave us this pottery barn teen bed! We had to create a few cross pieces to support it, and made a custom box spring, and it was good to go! You can find this same bed here. But, if you don’t want to pay Pottery Barn prices:) Like I probably wouldnt! I found an almost identical bed for a fraction of the pricehere. I found the pink ruffle bedding on ebay, but it was orginally pottery barn kids, and is sadly no longer available, but there is a very simliar one here.

And I had a hard time figuring out what kind of light to put in here since the canopy on this bed was so tall. I came across this cute black star and thought it would be just right;)

I made this sweet dreams sign for above Kynlees bed and surprisingly it’s been one of my best sellers at Whimsy:) They will be making a come back in the fall sale if you wanted to snag one of your own! And once this room was done I knew it needed a little extra texture with all of the white and black. These DIY paper flowers were the trick! And super inexpensive to make! I was able to make around 8 flowers for the price of one pack of paper! You can see the whole tutorial on my instagram page in my highlight reel under paper flowers:) I also did a quick DIY for this bedskirt. I bought an inexpensive bedskirt like this one, and sewed on little black pom pom trim. If you want the super easy method you can buy this no sew tape and stick it on!

This little vanity area was the most recent addition to Kynlees room. I decided to add the board and batten as an accent wall, even though it’s super subtle, it just adds a bit of interest. I would like to say her shelf is always this clean, but I should be happy that a little girl actually lives in this room and it’s full of arts and crafts, makeup, and now a fish!

This little area was so super easy to create! I bought the brackets and shelf piece from Menards in the shelving department. Both were natural wood that I painted. The brackets I painted a black to pop, and the top I painted in the same white as the walls. I simply screwed the brackets to the board and batten and also to the top, and a vanity was made for under $30! I bought my favorite gold mirror from here, and this cutest little fur ottoman from here. I searched the whole web and this was by far the best price for the cutest look! And seriously the light pulls it all together with the black and gold combined. I also love that its a plug in so no hardwiring necessary! You may recognize the light as the same from my pantry makeover I love it so much:) You can find that at ikea or here.

The cute little pom pom string came from rejuvenation at christmas time, and why not add more pom poms:)

And the last little nook in Kynlees room is my favorite!

because who doesn’t want a swing in their bedroom:) I found this swing on ebay and it shipped from australia, but sadly they are no longer available. There is this super cute one though! And it’s a steal of a deal! Or I just saw this cute opal house one from Target that has the boho vibe, just a different color:)

I used a pink seat cushion to keep the swing open a bit, and added a couple of pillows…because pillows:) And I absolutely love these cute little vinyl heart stickers. It is waaaaaayyy cheaper than wallpaper and also waaaaayyyy easier! Huge win! I paired it with my Be you sign I made, and a few more paper flowers, and of course some twinkle lights:) and it quickly turns into the favorite spot:)

I don’t want to completely deceive you though:) I still do have one unfinished corner!

Thankfully it’s hidden behind the corner;) Hence the reason it’s not done! But I plan on buying one of those cheap ikea metal bookshelves and spraying it gold. I’ll put that against the left wall so Kynlee can house all of her craft and lego creations safely out of reach of the littles around here:) And it was fun to add this gold over the door mirror, because every girl needs a dressing area:)

Girls room done…now the boys room. Someday;)
