Our last Garage/Shed is FINISHED!

We finally finished all of our last garage makeover!

If you have been around since last year you will probably remember our summer of sheds and garage makeovers! LOL we tackled 4 makeovers in that department last year and wow what a difference it makes a property look!

Well we had just one left to give a makeover to and it has been finished!

In case you missed the summer of sheds last year. I've linked each of those below for you to take a peak at!

Now to the current garage, This is Ryan's tool and car garage, it is extremely nice to have for all the overflow stuff that we don't need to keep in our attached garage...But It is not pretty or I'll say "was" not pretty. See below! It looks like it was basically falling apart, and it is the very first thing you see when you are pulling up our driveway.  So this has been a long time coming to say the least,.

First Ryan took off all of the old sheeting along most of the garage, Then the new sheeting went on! We used OSB for sheeting and smart side for the siding! You can see below what the smart side looks like. It is so "easy" because it clips together so after you cut it, it should slide right in nice and tight.

Also, as you can tell the front of the garage was not the same, so Ryan bumped out the left side to make it level, which added a tiny more space which is amazing!

We snagged 4 new windows from Menards to put in. The old ones were broken and in major need of a replacement.

Ryan also extended this side of the roof as it didn't have a small overhang like the other side, we wanted it to look cohesive, so that was built just before roofing went on.

Onto the roofing! The kids helped in taking off all of the shingles so that we could put tin on to match our house garage addition!

We had terrible hail damage last year and ended up getting all new roofing on the house and attached garage. We were able to keep the damaged tin off of the roof because Ryan did all of the labor, so we kept it for some of this garage to cut cost and on the flat side you can't even tell so it works perfectly.

Once all the roofing was done and siding complete. He moved onto facia and soffit. It is amazing how much that cleans up the look! It started to look so different at this point!

Trim went up next and oh my goodness!!

It was time to paint, yay! I couldn't wait to get my hands on a paint brush! That is the sign in the process that you are getting so close to a finished product! It took 2 coats of paint to fully cover. We found out that it worked best to paint with a roller that covered better instead of doing a lot of it by hand in the groves. The white we used was a custom color match to the pre-existing steel siding that is on the original part of our house.  It's definitely a cooler white but works well outside with the bright light.

Having the Bobcat for the higher parts was a lifesaver! *But make sure you watch where you are going walking underneath it - I learned from personal experience with a nice gash to the forehead.., Ouch!!

Oh how I love it! It the mini version of our main garage that I was hoping for!

I had a fun idea of a way I wanted to dress it up while doing finishing touches!

I wanted to personalize it, so I used an overhead projector to pencil on the font. It isn't easy to paint on texture so it took a little while but oh did it turn out so pretty!! I've done this technique on a couple different things including the painting on Sweet Caroline! I'll link below an overhead projector for you. Pro tip, it has to be dark in order to stencil correctly so I had to wait until dark to stencil on the side of the garage.

The 4' Boxwoods that I have already you've probably seen as I've shared before, I grabbed 2 for this spot as well as 2 20" black planters to go along accessorizing.  I actually stole the planters we made for our house garage for this side.  Since it' all rock and gravel I knew it would be hard to plant shrubs, and it's also not a fun place to try to water, so of course my love for faux came in clutch.  I found these smaller cedar bushes in two packs for a good price!  They add height and green, which works well for breaking up and softening this side of the garage.  It's also what you see driving in so I wanted it to be all dolled up:)

I got the exact same Gooseneck lights that we have out our garage so it would match perfectly the only difference is scale, I sized down a bit for this one.

We spent the first 10 years working and fixing up the inside of the house, now the past 2 years has been the outsides turn! These exterior sheds/garages use to bug me so much driving up, now I smile every time I come home!
