CHRISTMAS HOUSE TOUR–PART 1

allie • Dec 05, 2017

Tis the season for all the color in our little farmhouse…and I love it!!

Although I’m loving seeing all the gorgeous decor of all colors or non-colors….this little house begs for a pop of red:)

And plaid is still super popular this year…praise Jesus! Because I love these Pottery Barn plaid pillow covers I got last year:)

and I really should go around my house and count how many little trees I have.  It may be getting out of hand:)

Honestly, I barely spent any money this year in new Christmas decor…which was quite amazing considering we have a whole new room!  But I had (mostly) enough stuff to fill both areas;)

And you may have noticed, but there is no christmas tree in this room this year!  And yes, I am a little sad about that.  We usually have our tree at the end of the white couch, but this year I put it in the great room.  And you guys…I’m getting old…..I caved to a fake tree this year!!! I never though I’d say that.  And the idea was to put the fake tree in the great room and get a charlie brown tree in the living room still, but now its the first weekend of December and we still don’t have a real tree, and honestly now it sounds like too much work for 3 for weeks of enjoyment.  I told you, I must be getting old!

I am missing the twinkle lights most of all, but I do find ways to sneak them in throughout the whole house….and my railings are one of them!  I have seen all of these gorgeous, live, greens that people have been using in their house…and although they are absolutely gorgeous, all I see is major headache once they start drying out!  So I found these greens at Ikea last year, and actually doubled them up so they were a little thicker, and added red berries to give them just a little “something.”  Add some twinkle lights and they are perfect.

I had to add more lights on the mantle as well.  The mantle is super simple, and I’m okay with that.

And I don’t know why, but my dining room is always my favorite to decorate for any holiday.

Surprise!  More twinkle lights;)

I didn’t try to re-invent the wheel this year.  I left the stay cozy sign up from the fall and added a few more trees to the buffet and left it as is.

I had fun setting the table to get some pretty pictures, and loved using these plaid napkins from Target.  I was going to turn them into pillows, hence the reason I only have 4, but ended up loving them as actual napkins instead….isnt that genius:)

and this little wooden tray/box that I found at a barn sale has been the perfect centerpiece for every holiday as well.  It’s narrow enough that it doesn’t have to be moved off the table, yet long enough to make a statement.

and these little trees from Michaels fit perfectly in it.  I have to be real with you guys as well…I see so many beautiful Christmas tables posted, but I think to myself…how do they actually eat there.  Or how do their hubby’s put up with that:)  So when we aren’t hosting company…our table sits pretty empty, looking like this..

The kids can still do school and we can still eat at it without having to move any decor.  But my favorite spot to sit at in the house is on the far side of the table so I can see the open staircase..

and….did you spy some of my new magnolia pieces?!?

I’m kinda in love with this new black stainless flatware she has.  My sister-in-law gifted me one place setting after I told her I’d been wanting it…so I think I’ll have to see if any more shows up at christmas and fill in the missing pieces after;)

I also love the little name plates she has…I think I’ll be able to find many uses for them.

So if you read my instagram post yesterday, you heard my frustration of having a completely clean house.  I clean one room, move on to the next, and come back to find the clean room destroyed.  There are much worse things in life…and I don’t worry about it often….but every once in awhile momma wants to see the true potential of her house..ya know:)  And SIT in it.  WHILE it’s clean.  FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES.  I’m thinking I’ll have to ship my kids out someday for that to actually happen:)  With all of that being said, I’m hoping to have some more Christmas photos to share with you soon of the rest of the house!
