Christmas Time

Christmas is my favorite holiday, for many reasons.  I love the fact that we are celebrating the birth of Jesus which gives us such hope and renewed faith, I love all of the traditions that are involved, I love the twinkle lights, the goodies, the music, the movies, and the smiles on my kids faces when they open their presents.  It always is such a special time of year for me.  This year has been a little different to say the least…but I have gained a whole new appreciation for Christmas and what it truly means.  It means we will get to see our little baby girl again one day because Jesus came in baby form to take away our sins so we can enter into the kingdom of the most high.  It has never meant so much to me.

With Christmas has also brought a little distraction, which is nice for a time.  We have been busy decorating, baking, and wrapping…and since I have been a bit slow on the decorating blogs, I thought I’d show you how it looks over here at the Lundeen household.

Ryan always gets our trees from up north on their land, and I love them.  I love the charlie brown appeal to them, and I love that they are real and that they are free:)

Our kitty cat Boo (who’s supposed to be outside) loves it too:)

The kids made the cutest ornaments in Sunday school for us…they fit perfectly on our tree:)

They were so excited to hang them up….

There was no way I could say no:)

amazingly the presents have still stayed wrapped

This is what greets you as you enter the house.  I found the L wreath in Ballard Designs catalog.  I originally thought I’d hang it, but L’s are a bit hard to hang if you know what I mean:)  Didn’t think that one through…..but it works great on a shelf!

I’ve been repurposing many pieces, makes life simpler…

I even brought some of Ryan into the house….just because I love him:)

And if you couldn’t tell yet…I got an early Christmas present!  We finally invested in a nice camera…now I just have to learn how to use it:)  So some of these are me just goofing around:)

and I switched up the mantle just a bit.  Ryan wanted stockings to open on Christmas morning, so I made the guys some stockings.  The only thing he had to say?? Who the heck is no. 1, no. 2 no.3, and no. 4?  Thanks babe, I think they look great too:)

Ryan also brought home a lot of little tree toppers.  Snip off the top and you’ve got a mini tree…free for nothing!

Again…playing with the camera.  I think I’m in love:)

I also love the winter pillows.  A pop of color has been fun this Christmas season!

A super simple fa la la la stenciled table runner…

And my favorite part of the house..the stairs.  I love waking up in the middle of the night and seeing the lights glowing down the hall…it brings me back to my childhood:)

I can’t wait to show you Kynlee’s tree that her and Tate decorated yesterday….you’re in for a real treat:)

  1. looks SO wonderful allie! i love how peaceful and simple your home is! my biggest question is where is the mess?!?! how do you keep so clean and organized with two littles running around? could you share your favorite ways to organize?? big hugs! happy new year! this new year i want to be more organized, less cluttered, and to thrive in simplicity!

    1. Oh Jonelle, how I wish I was organized…that I need a few lessons from Nicolle in. My secret is that my kiddos actually don’t have that many toys. Kynlee loves coloring things and dollies and Tate loves sticks, rope, and knives:) Haha, oh dear:) I actually have never been one to enjoy my house become one big play area, so most of their toys are in their rooms or in baskets and closets on the main level. I think since we have not given them an overload of toys, they have really learned how to play a long time with one thing. My biggest secret is that we try to play with one thing at a time and then pick it up before we pull up the next. But….Kynlees now 3 1/2, it’s always harder with little ones give yourself a break:) I’m sure we’ll be back there soon!
      Also, I am a little psycho about a picked up house…and I’m not sure it’s always a good thing….

  2. Hey Allie – Your home is BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for sharing – there are some very cute ideas that I hope to someday work into my Christmas decorating :) One question: what do you have hanging from your ceiling in the living room (by the wall behind the tree)? I tried to find out in a previous blog post, but I didn’t come across anything. It looks interesting and I would love to hear all about it! Thanks and Merry Christmas!
