Guest House Decor

I’m sure some of you have been waiting to see the guest house decor since I told you I about threw it together the day we finished painting the last board:)  That’s what was fun about this project, was that I was able to find pieces and save and collect for quite some time so that when the time came it would just be ready to move stuff in.  I’ve never been able to do that before, and I felt like I was on HGTV or something just getting to bring in the furniture and accessorize all in one day.  For those of you who are on a budget  you know as well as me, that just doesn’t happen…it takes years:)

But, since it was ideal garage sale season and I had 6 months to look for stuff, I had a good start.  Not everything, but enough to make it feel cozy for our first guests:)

Alright, in true fashion lets start with the before again….(are you sick of it yet??)

and after…

Just a bit of a difference.

I love how when you are laying in the bed, all you see is leaves. And right now the popples are yellow and soon the maple outside the long skinny window will be brilliant orange. I think I may be using this guest house more than the guests:) Just teasing, we can’t wait to entertain and invite people to come stay!

Another before…

and after..

This is the end that still needs a little tlc:) Ryan is gonna make me a platform for the fireplace, and I’m waiting til after Whimsy to get a new mirror for above it. I also have the curtain rods for the windows but they haven’t gotten up yet. I do think some privacy will be nice though since those windows look right into our kitchen:) Stay decent mom and dad:)

My sister had the striped chair in her garage heading to the burn pile and wouldn’t you know it was the perfect colors for in here. Someday I’d like two matching comfy chairs, but chairs are expensive. Free is free! :) Can’t beat that!

Speaking of free, we also got his cutie for free from our friends Pollios!

It’s missing a leg in back, but you’d never know it. We are just going to screw it to the wall to make sure it doesn’t go anywhere. It’s perfect though for extra storage for guests and it also holds the kitty food:) I couldn’t have found a more perfect piece!

What was so fun about this room was all the deals and steals I got for it. It makes it so much more rewarding. My mom found this cutie at goodwill for $10! I wish I had a before pic but of course I got to excited and went to town on it right away. It was all a super dark wood that was all dinged up. Perfect for paint and distressing!

And it’s solid. When I took out the drawer it said, “Ethan Allen” Score! I knew it felt like a good piece:)

This guy I found at a garage sale for $5. It was cream with a nice wood plastic top on it. I’ve had so many people ask me if you can paint that stuff. Why not?? What are you out if it doesn’t work?? That’s the beauty of distressing, if the paint doesn’t take the greatest it really doesn’t matter:)

I have 2 matching knobs like the other table that I still have to put on.

So there she is for now. And if you didn’t realize we did just score a queen box spring for $20 so the guests can sleep a bit more comfy. The search is off:)
