A NEW TABLE AND RUG

I was going back through my blog and looking at the before and after pics, and realized a lot has changed since I did the inital “after” photo.  I guess it proves Ryans point that nothing stays the same around here for long;)  I hate that when he’s right!:)  So, I thought I’d slowly update the blog pages and show you what we’ve “changed” around here!

Here is the photo I had on my before and after section on the blog..

That seems like ages ago!  And almost everything has changed!  Here is the current after…

I got a new dining table awhile back that I haven’t shared yet.  Although I liked the makeover I gave to the dining table Ryan and I purchased when we were first married almost 10 years ago, I had my eye on this swoon worthy table for the last few years….ever since I used it in the cabin I made over.  My friend ended up buying it for their house, used it for a year, and realized it wasn’t what she was looking for.  I knew I’d never convince the hubby to buy a brand new table since there was nothing wrong with ours, but when the opportunity came to buy it from my friend, for almost half price, he was game.  Add in the equation that I sold ours at Whimsy, and it was almost a wash. Score!

This dining table is from World Market and is called the Rustic Java Greyson Fixed Dining Table.   I have never been disappointed with World Market quality and this table does NOT dissapoint!  It is super heavy (trust me…I know:) and looks amazing in person..

The price (even full price) is quite amazing for the quality if you ask me!  And the beautiful thing about this table is that it is 8″ narrower than our old table and a foot longer, so it fits the space better and makes the room look bigger:)

And my most recent purchase was a new rug for this room.  If you look at the before picture you can tell my 8 year old ikea jute rug was falling apart.  I found this one on RUGSUSA and fell in love.  I got the 7’6″x9’6″ size and the fit is perfect.

It’s super chunky and quite soft actually.  I was nervous about it being too busy, but I love how it warmed it up and added so much texture.

and here’s another before of changes..

and after...

Creating a space you love takes time..

but is oh so worth it:)

I finally feel like one room in my house is complete.  For now:)

The Oaks final outdoor reveal
By Allie Lundeen August 14, 2025
I pulled off the biggest surprise I've ever done... I can't believe it!! So a little back story - 17 years ago Ryan sold his prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my job and we went from 2 incomes down to 1 income. We knew that a 2 person convertible just wasn't practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. So we sold it... Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car on Facebook Marketplace In great condition! He drove almost 3 hours to pick it up with a buddy and pulled off the best surprise ever!!! Also to note Tate has never driven through the Twin Cities or Driven a stick shift on any road besides a gravel one close to the cabin. BUT he was confident and crushed the challenge!! We stored it for the night and gave it to him the next day! I think Ryan's reaction says it all (watch the mini vlog below!) Our "19th" anniversary isn't until November but what fun is a convertible if you can't drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! *make sure to read until the end for a good laugh ;)
