My dad loved this spot so much and invested in it so we could all enjoy it with them, even as our families grew. I’ve been so very honored to be able to join arms with this amazing community on instagram and pray over our kids, and we have seen God hear and answer our prayers! We know that the battle we fight is in the unseen realm and I have learned that being intentional in prayer on our kids behalf is one of the most powerful ways we can help them in this loud and crazy world. After our last online 30 day challenge, I had many requests to create it into a book that you can do at any time. So I’ve taken the 30 days of prompts and written out a prayer for each one. I designed this book with a spiral bound so that you can keep it open to the verse that goes with each day and use it as a daily reminder to pray over your kids. Set it out somewhere that you will see it often. I also left a blank page for you to write your own prayers. I know so many people feel as though they don’t know how to pray, so I hope that my prayers give you confidence, but the reality is that God wants a personal relationship with you and desires to hear your voice and your heart! So write your own personal prayer and grow your relationship with Jesus as well. And how awesome to be able to go back and see how God has answered different prayers we’ve said to Him (often in ways we don’t expect) and testify to what He is doing. I’ve been dying to add a mural, and this soon to be bunk room was the perfect place!! @wall.blush had a design I loved, especially for Lakeside Cottage. The second I walked into this fixer upper cabin I knew this opening was begging for an arch. I almost gave up, twice, but perseverance got the best of me and I figured it out. I had no clue what I was doing, but man I’m glad I kept going, because this arch will be the focal point of the whole space. Also, can we talk about that fluting detail?!? The cherry on top! 😍. This drab and dreary bedroom got a moody makeover with a few simple steps. #1.) Add picture moulding. It really is a beginner level DIY anyone can do, and it only cost around $350 to do this room and make a huge impact! #2.) Paint your ceiling, walls and trim all the same color. It makes for a super dramatic feel and all with a little paint. I have a full tutorial on how to do the picture moulding saved in highlights below so make sure to check it out! Paint color is: Dusky Gray by DutchBoy paints *I like to paint my walls and trim all the same sheen and use satin. Makes it super easy to touch up when needed.

The bathroom is DONE! Don’t underestimate what a small budget can do when you’re willing to do the work yourself. And don’t forget how much design is in the little DETAILS! BUDGET BUDGET BUDGET. What happens when you have a tight budget but don’t want to sacrifice design? Splurge on one showstopper item and try to save on the rest. I fell in love with these Zellinge handmade tiles from @alexanderjames_shop but knew that if I used them, I’d have to skimp on other areas. And guess what?!? I was okay with that! So I decided to use peel and stick flooring (I’ve used it in 3 other projects and it’s held up great for over a year now in bathrooms and porches that freeze in winter) I chose to buy a stock, big box store vanity for a fraction of the cost of any custom vanities or high end vanities (ps, add your own hardware like I did and it’s an instant upgrade) and we replaced the tub surround and painted the tub instead of doing a custom tiled shower. I love the look of a shower curtain anyway so no need to show off the shower. And the best way to save on the budget is to learn to do it yourself! I have a whole story highlight teaching you how to tile and wire a light and so much more. It’s easy to go over on this, and just upgrade that, and before you know it you aren’t sleeping at night because the bills are piling up. Let me tell you, it’s not worth it! It’s always an adventure with the Davis family! And this week did not disappoint. When the weather in Florida is cold you get creative and make the most amazing memories. Like jump off a cliff together, tour the oldest fort in America, stand 2” from a ginormous alligator and laugh til your gut hurts. Having a friend live cross country means being intentional and I’m so grateful our families have made it a priority to not only keep this friendship growing, but strengthening it every year! THE OAKS “In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory.” Isaiah 61:3 NLT. This verse inspired the name for our new vacation rental we are building. The lot is surrounded by huge oak trees, and the meaning of this verse is so powerful. The beginning starts with God’s promise to replace mourning with gladness and a faint spirit with a garment of praise. We felt like this build that Ryan made (how amazing is that?) is a huge testimony to what God has done in our lives. We’ve walked through the fire a few times, but each time God planted our feet firmer in His truth, held up by His love, and rejoicing with His peace. And we pray that this spot can bring that same hope to all of you. We desire “The Oaks” to be a spot of restoration, of Gods goodness and His glory to surround you, just like the huge oak trees on the property do! So even though the cabin isn’t even painted, her message stands clear. We’ve already been praying over her and know God will use this spot to minister to so many. We can’t wait to have you!

It’s time to take our families back. When culture is loud, when fear sets in, when things feel hopeless, we fight on our knees! Losing the hearts of our kids is sometimes a slow fade and other times seems like a whirlwind. If we aren’t intentional in keeping their hearts and consistently pointing them to Jesus this world will eat them up. It’s time to pour into our kids by fighting the spiritual battles and claiming our territory over our houses and our families. We will pray BIG prayers for revival, repentance, healing, and conviction and watch God work. I’ve also learned we need community to persevere, testify, and carry us along the way. My favorite way to wrap presents is to keep a basket of all my supplies by the tree so I never have to dig all over for everything! And when you coordinate your paper, it makes the basket pretty and acts as decor. Now I wrap presents as soon as they come and never have to worry about the kids finding out what they are getting. Traditions bond families and it’s a huge reason I love them! Our favorite Christmas tradition is doing family advent cards. Each year I write out 25 cards with fun activities, service projects, baking and outside fun, put them in a little advent calendar, and starting December 1st the kids take turns opening a door and reading the card. I love that it helps us be intentional during the season to create memories and also focus on doing good for others. It’s something my kids look so forward to every year! I’m so in love with my new @albanyparkhome Barton sofa in hazelnut boucle fabric. I never thought I’d stray from my light furniture until I saw the gorgeous texture of this material, and knowing the hazelnut color is stain resistant and will wear amazing was a huge selling point for our family of 4 kids and 4 pets. It’s also 100% vegan and hypoallergenic. The set up took less than 5 minutes with no tools involved and was so helpful to come in sections so we could easily maneuver into our home. It’s a game changer for small living, apartment living, and tight corners since you can assemble and dissemble easily! Last year we did a 30 day challenge of praying for our husbands and we watched God transform not only our marriages but our spiritual lives! It’s evident that there’s a war on the nuclear family, and it’s time to take our stand, pick up our armor, and fight for our families. What stood out to me the most last time was that when I spent time in prayer for my husband, God ended up working on MY heart the most. He transformed MY way of thinking and broke me free from the LIES culture tells us. Because marriage is more about our relationship with God and honoring him than it even is about our spouse. Ryan’s secret project REVEALED!! I thought he was absolutely crazy when he showed me this Facebook marketplace find that he wanted so badly. We have a million projects going on, but dad knew how much fun a water slide would be at the cabin. It turned into a Tate + Dad project, which I love. They built, engineered, and created this masterpiece, complete with water pump and LED party lights! Part 1 reveal!!! When I decided to tear off my old faux shiplap I knew it would be a job, but I didn’t quite realize just how big of a job! But…I got the wall put back together, it’s smooth enough for this non-perfectionist, and I think I’m going to be surprising some of you with the DRAMATIC black paint!!😱 I was so inspired by @plankandpillow matte black office that I knew I needed to try it, and don’t worry, this is just the beginning….the picture moulding is going to make it come alive!! I can’t wait to get started… I know this is always controversial, pulling down shiplap…but don’t worry, half my house is still shiplap and I’m leaving it, but I do like mixing texture and wall treatments so I’m excited for something new. Starting this project I was all about creating a beautiful space and the kids were all about growing the veggies, it was a win win. But I couldn’t have expected how much joy came with tending a garden, watching it grow, and harvesting our own vegetables. The kids are beyond excited every time there is something new to pick, and we can’t wait for all of those tomato cherries to ripen! The trick for me was to keep the garden small enough that it was easy to manage all summer long. These raised beds were the perfect solution and also oh so pretty. This little garage was the first thing you saw driving in to our property and it’s bugged me for the last 12 years. This was the year she got some love. This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine. The world is seemingly getting darker at a faster rate, and all I know is I want to look completely different from it and shine light into that darkness to draw others to the real hope, peace and joy we can have amidst our circumstances, trials, and heart aches. That peace and hope only come from God, and knowing Him. And what I’ve realized is a lot of people know about Jesus, but few actually know God. Being in the Word from beginning to end has strengthened my faith, allowed me to trust completely through all things, and shown me God is just as loving as Jesus. I have fallen more in love with God, His patience, His mercy, His grace, each time I read through His word. So this June as the world feels noisy, make a commitment to get to know the light! I love this little picking garden, but she was missing one thing. An entrance. I found this arch for $34 and fell in love with the secret garden feel to it. I put it in two large planters and planted clematis to creep up it and cover it with green vines. I can’t wait until it fills in and really feels magical. And it all started with Ryan moving the propane tank across the driveway for me. The kids have been begging for a garden, and while we’ve had huge gardens before, they always got so overwhelming. I did it! So far in my life I’ve painted windows, faucets, knobs, floors, and so much more, but I think you can say I took my love of paint to a whole new level with this DIY! I painted my lawn.🤣 Yep, that’s right…after all of the winter kill on our year old grass, we fertilized and overseeded but I’m just not patient enough to wait for the results, so in the meantime I found this grass paint (link in stories) that’s completely safe for pets and humans and lasts on your yard for up to 3 months!! I was 35 years old before I decided to read the Bible through cover to cover, even though I have been a Christian my whole life. I can tell you it’s one of the most rewarding and life giving accomplishments I’ve ever done. This is now my 3rd time through and each and every time I learn so many new things. I find more peace in a chaotic world, I have more assurance that this world is not our home and it’s been so powerful to connect the Old and New testaments and truly get the whole view of who God is! I am so grateful to be able to have a guide book to navigate these days as they seem to be getting crazier and crazier. I’m so grateful to have absolute truth and stand firmly on it. And I’m so beyond grateful for the hope that Jesus has brought that’s available to each and every one of us! Our cabin plans are DONE!! I was so excited to see our cabin plans come to life with the renderings but COULD NOT WAIT to make them my own!! You don’t have to have all the latest computer programs or be techy to play around with design. Without changing the structure, and with only a light board and pen (a window works too;) I was able to drastically change the aesthetic of the exterior from generic new build to an original cozy cabin with the finishes we want. Add in some lighting and landscaping and I can not WAIT to get this project started!!! What do you think? Ps, interior plans coming soon…..

How fun is paint?!? This whole makeover cost me the price of one gallon of paint and the results are so dramatic. What went from light and airy is now dark and moody and I’m in love! The best part is I really actually love both looks! But when the rest of my house is white it was so fun to play with some darker trendy colors and bring a little more dramatic feel to this bathroom. I wish I could see the old owners reaction to the changes we made in here! It may have taken a year to finish, but it was worth all of the work! I positively love every bit of her! And to answer your question, where’s the bathroom..there is none! I know you middle of the night pee-ers don’t like hearing this😆, but if it came to a tent or an air conditioned Caroline which would you choose?! I would pick Caroline everytime🙋🏽‍♀️. We bought this camper mid renovation. We found it on FB marketplace for $1000, a steal! Especially since the owner ripped everything out, redid all the wiring and fixed the floors and walls and so much more. BUT…he didn’t add plumbing back in. My goal was to make this feel like a little house and adding a bathroom takes up so much space. Since this will be staying on our lake lot and be available for overflow sleeping, a bathroom will be close by;) I know that won’t be a good enough answer for some of you, but it’s okay. Building cabinets from the base up, creating something out of nothing, choosing a design and sticking with it in a tiny space, all of it was a bit intimidating, but WOW! The boys room is DONE! And this DIY desk was the easiest custom build we’ve ever done. I bought two drawer cabinets from IKEA for $100/piece, 3 legs from IKEA for $7.50/piece, and two pieces of butcher block from Menards that I stained for $257/piece, making this huge custom size desk for $736. The best part is this is a beginner level DIY and only took us an hour to put together. All we had to do is cut one side of butcher block and screw on the legs. Happy Valentines Day! Any chance I can get to dress like my girls I’ll take🖤Raising girls in this culture is a challenge, but one that I take as the highest privilege. I love watching these girls grow into some amazing, independent, confident women, and Ryan and I have been praying they find a spouse that loves and values that as well. Boys room part 1 complete!! When we got much needed new carpet in the boys room we decided to also switch things up a bit. The boys both wanted desks which meant putting the beds on this wall. Every new year seems to bring the hope and anticipation of the best is yet to come, and I see people all over say this will be your year! And while there is nothing wrong with hoping and praying for a good year, the reality is that is not God’s main desire for us. The year our family became a statistic. The 2%. We realized that life can change in an instant. Your year, or life, can shatter in mere seconds. And there is no amount of money, things, or time that can help in those situations. The only thing that can truly carry you through the darkest days, the hardest hours, the deepest pain, is the faith you have developed in God, the author of our lives. So as another year approaches my desire, my resolution, my deepest need, is to strengthen my faith, to dig in deeper into my Bible, to spend more time in prayer and grow the relationship that matters the most. Because when hard times come, and sadly none are immune, our faith needs to be strong. We need to be prepared. We need to have a firm foundation. So as a new year approaches, I have learned to hold my breath a bit and whisper, “Help me through this next year Lord, whatever it holds.” #2023 #newyearsresolution #goals

I have to testify how sweet our God is. I started this IG journey solely for the purpose to update our community on sweet Juliet, our daughter who had trisomy 18, over 10 years ago now. We had recently moved into this old farmhouse we were renovating and didn’t yet have Wi-Fi so I couldn’t blog and IG had just come out. It was an easy place to post a photo and give an update to the thousands of people following along on our story. After Jules died, I used it as an outlet to share all of my DIY projects that I did on little to no budget as we transformed our 120 year old house with $30k (which included updating plumbing, electrical, flooring a kitchen and two bathrooms). We were creative you guys;) Needless to say, I loved design since I was young and never thought in a million years I would be able to be featured in a magazine with having to work with such a small budget and doing nearly all the work ourselves. As we continued to navigate the world of social media we found it to be a very amazing place to build community, but also a somewhat hard place to live lives of conviction. We knew through this journey God has set us on, that this is His story to tell, and we prayed we did it well and unto his glory. We thought we might lose it all by sharing our hearts with what happened to my dad through his battle with Covid and the treatment that took his life, but through it all God protected us. What Satan meant for evil, God used for good🙌🏼👏🏼 Getting through one of the most challenging years of our lives in 2021, I got a message from the editor of Better Homes and Gardens Farmhouse Christmas. I almost deleted it thinking it was a scam, but she said she wanted to come shoot our house for the 2022 Christmas magazine. After being cancelled, hated on, and our lives shattered, this seemed like such a sweet reminder to put our trust and faith in God and lean on him because when we are obedient and faithful He will knock our socks off! Although this magazine holds no eternal value, it was the sweetest gift from my Heavenly Father. I will cherish this moment forever. THANK YOU for standing alongside of us, praying with us, and being our biggest cheerleaders!!

BEFORE & AFTER!! Arches, fluting and shiplap, oh my! I had to bring back the still photos for this before and after because the swiping back and forth is just too good. Ryan bought me this vintage camper last year for $1000 for my birthday after I discovered my love for renovating small spaces. It took me awhile to get started on her since it was a complete blank slate, stripped of everything but a few 2x4’s. We decided against adding in plumbing and turned it into a glorified sleeping area and I couldn’t be happier. I pushed myself to make it look less like a camper and more like a designer hotel by adding arches, fluted wood details, beams and more! (Oh, and course spray paint and rub n buff, my bffs!) Hunting season can get long, but I’ve always tried to make the most of it by starting a project while Ryan is away. It gives me the motivation to go from start to finish by the time he gets home, and I love to see a good transformation! This time I covered up our tile floors that had pink nail polish spilled on them with @wallpops peel and stick flooring that was a collaboration with @chrislovesjulia . The peel and stick part was easy, the weird angled and curves around a toilet proved a little tricky. But…I finished before Ryan comes home and couldn’t be happier with the results 👏🏼👏🏼. When our 3rd daughter was deemed incompatible with life we didn’t shield it from our kids. Instead we used it as an opportunity to teach them of the hope that we have in Jesus, the fragility of life, the reality of death, and the eternity that awaits us. And every year on her homecoming day we use it as a reminder to keep our eyes on things above. We are so grateful for every day we got with you Jules! When we first got our @masterspas hot tub, someone messaged me and said they once went to a conference where the speaker said, if you want a close family, get a hot tub. I tucked that away in my memory and never stopped thinking about it. Although I think there are many ways to bond your family, the hot tub has been for sure at the top of our list! Our sweet Juliet, who had trisomy 18 and lived 38 days at home with us, would be 10 today. And today I want to share her testimony to anyone walking through hard right now. 10 years later and God has shown us just a glimpse of the impact she had, although we know it far outweighs anything we can see. He has shown us His faithfulness through the gut wrenching hard, and He has shown us that it paid to cling right to Him when things get tough. He is a GOOD GOD, a FAITHFUL GOD, and we want to shout it from the rooftops that HIS WAYS ARE SO MUCH BETTER THAN OURS🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼. When we bought this 800 square foot cabin we knew we needed to maximize the space. The one big change we added was removing the window and replacing it with a French door. This opened up the flow and extended the living space. The rest of the updates were literally the least expensive tricks we could do! We tore out the carpet and added peel and stick, painted lines on the windows with glass enamel paint to dress up the old storm windows, and grabbed a can of black spray paint to cover up the brass and wood fan that went from dated to great! We also painted the red walls white and added some batten strips, but that’s all just cosmetic. It’s amazing how you can get a designer look on a tiny budget and feel so much better about it! Over the years I have struggled with wanting a beautiful home. It seemed worldly, unimportant, and somewhat of a distraction. But as I have been digging deeper into the Old Testament I’ve seen how God desires a beautiful home. How He gifted people just for the fact that they could make the temple intricate, detailed, set apart. He wanted the most beautiful place to be where He was worshipped, where He lived! And I started to realize that maybe God gave me this gift, this desire, to create a beautiful home for my family, to create a place of security, connection and intentionality. To use the gifts He has given me to not bring myself happiness, but to bring Him glory! And to usher in an atmosphere of praise and fellowship within our four walls. I pray I never lose that focus. That the heart of all of this is about honoring Jesus and using my gifts for his glory! . . Welcome to our adventure! We finally found a project for Ryan, and a means of income outside of IG, and we think it’s the perfect one! Lol…although it looks completely different than what we thought it would. (In more ways than one!) We have spent a year searching for a property to create into an experience for all of you, one similar to our little cabin that has become a respite, my happy place, and a whole lotta memories! We checked the mls listings often, had a long list of musts, (big lot, mature trees, good location, potential) we put in an offer (only to get outbid by $50k) and decided that the real estate market was just still too crazy to enter into. And after we gave up what we thought was a good idea and focused on our marriage and our business (more of that to come tomorrow), God presented an even better idea! He’s so cool like that:) As we were eating lunch on the 4th of July with 30 family members there was a knock on the door. A neighbor we’ve never met who had a lot with a trailer on it 9 cabins down from ours asked if Ryan would mow her yard. Her husband died 5 years ago and they had never came back. Ryan said he could and it actually turned into an opportunity to buy the lot, on our little lake we love! Something we had never even thought about. We closed on it about a month ago and have been itching to get our hands on it (but 5 roofs kept us too busy 🤪) We are starting to dream about a build (eek! We’ve never built new before!) and can’t wait to make an amazing experience that will be available to share with all of you! 1st day of homeschool and I thought I’d share the reason behind the why! And it might surprise you. It’s not because I was homeschooled (I loved my public school experience) and it wasn’t to shelter my kids (although these days I think that’s valid) but rather it was because that tall teenager there had my heart and 8 years ago I couldn’t put him on a bus and let someone else have more time with him:) I never foresaw homeschooling in my future when we started a family, but now I can’t picture it any other way! We love the bond it has given between the siblings, how it’s kept our family unit together, the freedom and flexibility it has allowed our family, the laid back mornings and evenings, and of course being able to educate and teach our kids the best way we see fit for each of them and their individual needs. There was a time I used to get jealous of seeing all of the kids heading off to school and thinking of a quiet and clean house, (mostly baby days so hang in there mommas!) but those days are long gone. I now enjoy the house always a bustle and cherish the days I get to go to school (classical conversations) with them and teach them. It’s a joy and an honor! Happy 1st day of school kiddos! I love creating spaces, especially when it’s taking unused spaces in my home and making them function for our family. This little nook used to house a tv. We thought when we added on our master suite we’d love to snuggle in bed and watch a movie or show. And the reality is we never really used it. The babes used it when they were little and I needed to buy some time getting ready, but now as we enter new seasons of our life it functions so much better as a desk area, where I can hop on zoom calls and get work done. I know tvs in bedrooms can be controversial, and obviously we’ve done both! The exterior of our vintage camper is done! And I couldn’t be happier. So many people are nervous to paint an exterior, but I’ve had great luck with it and it updates the look so much. Start by pressure washing the whole exterior, caulk all the seams around doors and windows, tape off the glass on the windows and use rustoleum’s satin canyon black spray paint to paint them. Then once dry tape off the whole window and use a small paint sprayer and exterior paint to spray the body of the camper. Remove the tape and plastic and add in the fun finishing touches such as rub n buff on the handle and a fun “name” on the side!
