I was going back through my blog and looking at the before and after pics, and realized a lot has changed since I did the inital “after” photo.  I guess it proves Ryans point that nothing stays the same around here for long;)  I hate that when he’s right!:)  So, I thought I’d slowly update the blog pages and show you what we’ve “changed” around here!

Here is the photo I had on my before and after section on the blog..

That seems like ages ago!  And almost everything has changed!  Here is the current after…

I got a new dining table awhile back that I haven’t shared yet.  Although I liked the makeover I gave to the dining table Ryan and I purchased when we were first married almost 10 years ago, I had my eye on this swoon worthy table for the last few years….ever since I used it in the cabin I made over.  My friend ended up buying it for their house, used it for a year, and realized it wasn’t what she was looking for.  I knew I’d never convince the hubby to buy a brand new table since there was nothing wrong with ours, but when the opportunity came to buy it from my friend, for almost half price, he was game.  Add in the equation that I sold ours at Whimsy, and it was almost a wash. Score!

This dining table is from World Market and is called the Rustic Java Greyson Fixed Dining Table.  I have never been disappointed with World Market quality and this table does NOT dissapoint!  It is super heavy (trust me…I know:) and looks amazing in person..

The price (even full price) is quite amazing for the quality if you ask me!  And the beautiful thing about this table is that it is 8″ narrower than our old table and a foot longer, so it fits the space better and makes the room look bigger:)

And my most recent purchase was a new rug for this room.  If you look at the before picture you can tell my 8 year old ikea jute rug was falling apart.  I found this one on RUGSUSA and fell in love.  I got the 7’6″x9’6″ size and the fit is perfect.

It’s super chunky and quite soft actually.  I was nervous about it being too busy, but I love how it warmed it up and added so much texture.

and here’s another before of changes..

dining2 and after…

Creating a space you love takes time..

but is oh so worth it:)

I finally feel like one room in my house is complete.  For now:)

    1. Thank you! I actually made them out of drop cloth and painted on the stencil;) You can find the tutorial under my DIY section called painted curtains.

    1. I actually made them to cover up the existing chairs:) I used Miss Mustard Seeds online video tutorials to teach myself how to sew them if you are ever interested!:)

  2. LOVE your style! I went to IKEA for the wicker chairs but they were a VERY tan color- not a washed grayish like yours. Did you somehow change them? Or has IKEA changed? Thanks!

    1. Thanks so much Natasha:) I actually got them from Goodwill for 9.99 a piece, but at the time they were wood with blue seats:) A quick DIY and they fit the decor!

  3. I love this room! I am now inspired to redo my own dining room much to the chagrin of my hubby, lol.
How tall are your ceilings? I love the mirrors from Ballard and am trying to figure out if they will look right in my dining room. I have 8′ ceilings.

  4. Just stumbled on this blog and OMG AMAZING!!! Did you get the pad for under the rug? Do you find it slides around on hardwood? Thank you!! :)

    1. Awww…thanks for putting a smile on my face:) I did not put a pad under the rug and it doesn’t move much. It’s quite chunky so the chairs have to be lifted up completely to move, but we love it and it has worn great:)

  5. This is beautiful and inspirational! I love the jute-wicker tray on the table- would you mind giving me the source? Thank you!

  6. The transformation of your dining room is beautiful! Now that you have had this rug for a little while are you still happy with it? Thinking of ordering it for our dining room (when it is available again) but we have two children. I need a rug that is durable and will survive children :)

    1. I’m still loving it! The chairs don’t slide well with it since it’s so chunky, but we have crumbs on it all the time and they vacuum right up. My youngest also dropped a huge ketchup blob on it and it wiped right up with a wet rag and didn’t leave a mark. So yes, I totally recommend it!:)

  7. You are SO talented!! I’ve been following you for quite some time and am always impressed what you can do for less. I actually have that same World Market Dining table and we love it…except one thing: ours has support boards that connect the end legs at the bottom…which means I can’t tuck my end wingbacks in at. All. Did yours come the same and you just didn’t use them??

  8. I love your entire house! Like you, I worry at night about the right color of white to paint my house. What white paint did you chose? It also looks like you might have used some gray paint in some places. Am I right?

    1. Thanks Kathy:) I settled on Benjamin Moores Simply White:) And I used Martha Stewarts Sharkey Gray on my cabinets:) And I still like it:)

  9. Love, love, love every single change you do in your house. :)
I need to start to get everything painted in white!!!!
(and then probably i will get served with divorce papers :(
We build our house 5 yrs. ago when every single house in Texas was being built in the “Tuscan Style” (very warm and dark colors from which I’m very T-I-R-E-D of )

  10. What is style name of rug? Can’t find it. I have been wanting that look for family room but have been hesitant because we live in Southern CA and go barefoot a lot. Your comment about it being softer than it looks got my attention. Thanks.

    1. It’s called the Kiwa WA03 Handwoven Jute Jagged Chevron Rug…if you follow my link it will take you to the exact one…but bummer..it looks like it is sold out in all sizes now! They restock often so I would make sure and check back:)

  11. One of the things I have found very frustrating is that a lot of homes now-a -days have small or narrow spaces for the main dining area. It is hard to find narrow long tables! I have a table that will seat 10-12 but the width is much bigger than it needs to be and once we are seated you can’t move! I wish there were more stores out there that would sell really long narrow tables!

  12. I love the windowpane mirrors!! I’ve been looking for something similar for a while with no luck! Either out of my price range or not the right size. Where did you find yours?

  13. I came across your blog a few months ago and I love everything you do. I showed my husband your home which was my dream home style and he said….surprise it is all white-no color. Yes! Exactly. When will he learn? Anyway, where did you get the mirrors? I love how it reflects the light. PS I just had my 4th child too Jan 8th.

  14. Love this. Can you tell me where the chalkboard, your curtains, and white chairs are from? Everything looks great. Also, what about the sideboard?

  15. Beautiful!! Where did you get the lights with the big white shades hanging above your dining room table ?

  16. Love it!! What a great transformation, it’s so bright and welcoming. Where did you purchase your wicker chairs from if you don’t mind me asking?
