Indescribable Peace

Jule’s due date is tomorrow.  October 2nd has been going through my brain ever since we found out about our sweet Juliet at 26 weeks along.  It’s a day I didn’t think we’d get to, but our little fighter proved us wrong!  What a good girl:)  Throughout this experience just about every emotion has overtaken us.  We have grieved, we have rejoiced, we have celebrated, we have sulked, we have been angry, happy, sad, and overwhelmed.  One thing though…is we have never even thought to turn our backs on our Jesus.

I am always so surprised by people who go through tough times and say God, how could you??  I know that the thought could cross your mind, but for us…who have truly felt God throughout this whole experience, we say God, thank you so much for staying close.  We live in a fallen world with a lot of sin and sadness.  We are not in heaven yet.  I have learned through this experience that we don’t get a “get through life free” pass, but it’s how we choose to look at the situation that really counts.

Ryan and I have felt such an overwhelming love from God, and from his people.  WE have been blessed.  WE have learned.  WE have been touched.  Jules has blessed us, as has this experience.

I know we are about to embark on a very difficult life experience in the next couple of days.  I don’t know what my human mind will feel or how it will deal with it.  I have told so many people though that I cannot believe the peace I’ve had this last month.  A peace that passes all understanding.  A true God peace.  I attribute a lot of it to the thousands of prayers that have been going up for us.  I attribute it to a God that loves his children and promises to be by them every step of the way.  I attribute it to a relationship with our creator.

John 14:27  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Philippians 4:6-7do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

We go into the doctor today and she is going to try to get things going naturally.  We could meet Juliet soon:)  If that doesn’t work we will be induced on the following Monday.  Thank you SO MUCH for all of your prayers, they are not in vain.  Ryan and I are evidence of that.  We have been able to praise God for sweet Juliet!

I’m going to put together a playlist of songs to have playing in the hospital, so if you have any that have touched you…I’ve received a few and they’ve blessed us…please let me know and I’ll add it:)  We cannot wait to show you all how sweet and beautiful and perfect Juliet is.  Please rejoice with us:)

  1. Allie,

I came upon your blog through Jill Rude. I was able to go to Whimsey Green and LOVED it. Know there are people praying for you near and far. A song that I love and want you to listen to is “Be Still” by The Fray. You are God’s child, and he will be holding you in his arms as you hold your blessing.

  2. I don’t know you but rhea linked to your blog on face book. I cannot tell you how reading your story has brought peace to me. i miscarried 9 years ago and have grieved that baby so many times since. But reading your blog has reminded me that Uriel was never mine to begin with and that he could not possibly be in a better place. Thank you for having the strength to realize the things I could not, and helping me let go of my anger and sadness and replace it with peace and certainty. You have truely touched my life. I pray that you will hold your live Jules in your arms and look into her eyes. I pray that you will have time with her, but if not that you will know, as i do now, that she is safe and loved and happy. God be with you,

  3. Allie-

You have been the inspiration for the entire decoration of my fiance’s house, ever since I stumbled upon your blog a few months ago. I’m praying for you, and hope that you receive strength to get through these next few days.

    Take care.

  4. I have been following your story after Jenny shared it with me. You and your family have and will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers…continued prayers for peace on your little girl’s birthday. God Bless!

  5. Allie,
I am blown away by your faith. The Hurt and the Healer by Mercy Me is a great song. Rich Mullins – Ready for the Storm & Hold me Jesus. Will be praying for you and your family.

  6. I’m just a stranger from Alabama who happened upon your blog while trying to come up with a name for my own blog……..God has the coolest ways of doing things, doesn’t He? I’ve been praying for you all and will continue to do so…….Your story and your faith are inspirational to say the least. I don’t know how things are going to turn out but I do know that God will be holding you……. holding you up, holding you together, holding your hearts. Blessings!

  7. Praying for you and the whole family, Allie… with the wonders of technology and your amazing blog, we can’t wait to “hear” how everything goes and celebrate the birth of your sweet miracle with you! Prayers for an especially easy and quick labor and delivery. Trusting God has seen the end of this story (and the hundreds of hearts that little Jules has already impacted for His kingdom!) and that He’ll continue to hold you all in the palm of His hand and work out all of this for your good because you love Him!

    All our love,

  8. I, too, came across your story via a friend on facebook. I pray that you and your family continue to feel God’s peace and love surrounding you as you meet little Juliet. You’ve probably heard of this song, but “Untitled Hymn” by Chris Rice always helps bring me a little peace.

  9. A friend and I were sharing your story this past weekend and talked about how you are such an inspiration to both of us. I have continued to pray for you and your family as you approach this day and the days to come. When you asked for song suggestions, one popped into my head immediately….You Are Mine. Not sure if you are familiar with it but is such a beautiful song with a wonderful message. It reminds me everday that our Lord in heaven is there to guide and love us no matter what and that we are His first and forever.

    Dear Heavenly Father,
Please be with Allie and Ryan and all their whole family as they welcome their precious Juliet. May you continue to be their strength in the coming days. We praise you for the wonderous gift of life and celebrate our futures with you in heaven. In Jesus name, AMEN

  10. Allie,

You don’t know me, but I came across your story yesterday through a friend on FB who had sent out a prayer request for your family. Your story has touched my heart and I am amazed and inspired by your faith. You and your family will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

  11. I was about to go to bed and it struck me that i needed to check your blog and see if Jules had arrived!!! Prayers for ALL of you!!!!! Ingrid Michaelson Ëverybody”is a great song!

Hi Allie and Ryan – as I read your blogs, crying and praying with you…I am moved by your willingness to share. Thank you. I was at a women’s retreat this past weekend that was a blessing – especially the worship time with 200 women. The song that has not stopped circling in my head and might be a wonderful addition to your playlist is Matt Redman’s song “Never Once” ~ part of the chorus is:

Never once did we ever walk alone
Never once did You leave us on our own
You are faithful, God, You are faithful
You are faithful, God, You are faithful

You are not alone Lundeens – God’s blessings and strength as you meet your precious girl! Hugs…

  13. Everyday I see you going to whittakers you touch my heart! You are truly God fearing and God loving. You are so strong and im excited to see what God has planned for you! You have truly touched my life and prayers are being sent your way! We love you.

  14. Dear Allison,
I am sure you don’t remember me but I am a cousin of Kristin Symes. My daughter Kylie was her flower girl in her wedding. Your story has amazed me! I don’t think you will ever know how many people you have touched. I have a few song suggestions, Mandisa has a older album called Freedom. A few of my favorites are , Andrew’s song, He is with you, A broken hallaluia and Not guilty. I found them to be very comforting when I was going through a loss. I will be praying for all of you and thank you for sharing your journey.

  15. Beautiful Smiley (Allie),
I cannot tell you how many times I have thought of you (and prayed for you) during these past few months. I remember a beautiful girl with a dazzling smile and sweet heart, and now I read of a beautiful woman who still has that dazzling smile and an even sweeter heart….forged in the fire but dazzling in beauty. What a blessing to not know the future when we stand with our beloved on our wedding day…but what an immeasurable blessing to know our God in ways that we never could have imagined when our future collides with the present. I have wept many times as I’ve listened to “Held” knowing that every ounce of joy and peace I’ve known and continue to know comes from the fact that my loving Father has held me tenderly through the storms of life. You (and your dear husband and babies) are constantly in my thoughts and prayers.
With much love, Terrae (Wallo) Gorney

  16. PRAYING FOR ALL OF YOU !!!! I actually started looking yesterday to see if you had posted anything !!! Thank you for updating all of us.

  17. Hugs to you. Your grace and faith have been such a witness to me. We lost our daughter at 6 months, and truthfully, I do not think I would have made it without God. He was our rock.

The song ‘Held’ by Natalie Grant is my go to song. It brings me such peace knowing that Christ is holding me in the middle of my pain.

Prayers are being lifted up for you this week.

  18. Hi, You don’t know me, but I went to school with your cousin Kimry. I have been reading your posts and your last one I realized how close you live. I grew up in Hutchinson, and am living there currently. I have thought from the first post that Kimry linked that your story was amazing and a complete inspiration to those of us who have no clue how hard your situation is. Please know that if you need anything to let Kimry get in touch with me. I work at a church in Hutch and we have a great support crew that would love to be helpful if necessary. That being said, this message was not to solely offer service, but to say that throughout the readings of your post I have constantly had the words from “Held” by Natalie Grant played over and over in my head. Thank you for sharing your story and for allowing those of us not who don’t even know you to experience the joy and sorrow that you have experienced, and to be able to pray (surprisingly for someone who lives so close). Blessings during the next few days.

  19. Do you realize what an inspiration your family is?? God is using you far greater than you will ever know. Thank you for sharing your heart and journey with us. God is so big and I understand the peace that passes understanding……I have experienced it also. So thankful you know that your family is being held in the palm of His hand. He will NEVER leave you and has a great plan through this life of Jules. God Bless you Ryan and Allie! Can’t wait to welcome this miracle to the world with you!

  20. The Philippians passage was what got me through my battle with Cancer. Amazing, the peace our GOD can give us, it is unexplainable. One of the songs that brought me peace was How Great is our God. You have been in my prayers and constant thoughts. Thank you for sharing your experience and how our LORD has given you the peace that only HE can do!

  21. I can not express the vast emotions I have felt throughout the following of your testimony! But it has always been pure joy to see the utmost faith you have in Christ. Your story has touched and blessed me in so many ways (not to mention your decorating ideas are FABULOUS!! :)).
It is an absolute honor to have an opportunity to pray (along with many others) for your family. As you prepare for many uncertainties in the coming days, you can ALWAYS be certain of His love and care for you. May your family be filled with many joys and blessed moments in the days to come.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 2 Peter 1:2

  22. Praying that God will continue to hold you up–especially tomorrow. The verse that comes to mind is”The Eternal God is our refuge and underneath are the everlating arms.” He will hold you and your family up.

  23. Allie, it blessed my heart to read this. God is glorifying Himself through your family. We are thinking of all five of you everyday and praying for God to show you His power and His peace! Xoxoxo

  24. Allie,

Praying for you and Ryan and your kids these next few days. Praying that you continue to feel the Lord’s presence. Praying that you can bask in His glory and His promise that an eternity awaits us where, “‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4
