Jules is Home!

We went in to be induced with Jules yesterday morning at 7:00 a.m.  We welcomed our little angel Jules into the world at 6:23 p.m.  She wasn’t crying right away, but after a few puffs of oxygen she opened her eyes and said hello.  We were ecstatic!  and she is Beautiful! and she was a whooping 4 lbs 11.8 oz.  Sorry for the iphone pics, the rest aren’t uploaded yet.

Sarah was with us all day to help relieve some stress:) and take photos.  She got some beauties that we will share a little later, for now here are a few of Jules being introduced into the world, our family, and our lives.

She is a miracle in every way.  She is a fighter.  She is a child of God.  She is gorgeous.  She is perfect.

We just ask for prayer for the next few days.  We tried to breast feed Juliet and she did great, but her little nose isn’t formed correctly and her nostril doesn’t allow her to breath.  She was turning blue so we had to stop.  Juliet’s cleft pallet is so deep that a feeding tube would be difficult for her.  If she spit up it could go into her lungs and a tube would agitate her.  We have decided against an iv so we have been giving her breast milk with a syringe under her tongue.  She seems to keep it all down, but it probably won’t be enough to sustain her.

We prayed for a fighter and we got one.  As we are up with her in the middle of the night and she cries we pray she stops fighting and goes to meet Jesus where her body will be made whole.  I can’t tell you how difficult it is to be her mom and dad and know there is nothing you can do but pray like crazy.  And love.  Love her to pieces. and cry.

She looks so beautiful to us we wish she could stay forever…but her little body just isn’t made to last forever.  The list is too long.  There is so much more for her….

The Christian doctor that called when we were first diagnosed and gave us such a peace about the situation came to our room to meet little Jules.  He stated it best when he said, I’m a little jealous of her actually.  She’s a lot closer to being home than you and I are.  Lucky little lady.

Lastly we need to give a huge shout out to our amazing doctor and nurses that took such great care of us!  It was no coincidence who the Lord has put in our path.  We have been loved on and blessed so much by them.  They have cried with us and helped us through some of our biggest trials in our life.  We are so grateful and we love you ;)  You have a big place in our hearts!

    What a beautiful little girl you have! She seems to be a little fighter! I am a mother of a boy (Christopher) who will turn 15 in november and he has full trisomy 18. When he was born they said he would die within a month or for sure before turning one and they were wrong! I live in Winsted so not that far from you. If you have questions about anything feel free to contact me as I would love to be there for you in any way that could help. The doctors can only assume and can be wrong about a lot of things. I am not sure about all of your beliefs but the fact that she is here and fighting to live says a lot! Enjoy your time her as she is so precious and like I said I know several doctors that have dealt with my son and can get you to the right people. Be strong. God gave you this child for a reason! You have your own little angel and miracle happening!

  2. She is beautiful!! I thought of you all day on Monday and sent prayers your way! Lisa (Erickson, my sister) told me you were being induced. And I cried when I saw the picture, just to see the little miracle God has given you. May His will be done–and strength and peace to you two!
    Love,
    Connie Baumann

  3. Allie,
    It has been an absolute blessing to be a witness to God’s glory that shines through you and your precious family. What a testimony of faith and love that you have for our Father!

    I have been teaching our Sunday School kids the Hebrew names of God and am reminded of your family when I reflect on who He is.

    Proverbs 18:10, The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe.
    He is your strength and your strong tower.

    He is ELOHIM, Strong Creator. God created precious Juliet exactly the way He wanted her to be, in His wonderful image. His sovereign will is perfect and we may not be able to understand it sometimes, but He is the Creator and the love and faith you have displayed is truly a blessing and inspiration.

    Psalm 18:30, As for God, his way is perfect, the word of the Lord is flawless. He has a shield for all who take refuge in him.

    Blessings to your beautiful family. Each day you are in my thoughts and prayers.

    In Him,
    Jennie

  4. Jules is such a beautiful and precious baby girl! Thank you for sharing the pictures, your family continues to be an inspiration. I’m praying for strength, hope, and peace for all of you. Love, Molly

    I am so sorry for the situation you are in. I just stumbled across your blog today. I was in a similar situation to yours where I wanted more than anything to keep my precious baby girl, but knew Heavenly Father had a different path for her. You will be with your precious baby girl again someday where you will be able to raise her just as you would have here on earth. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time.

  6. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WATCH THIS VIDEO!!!!! It’s of a very special little boy named, Jonathan. Baby Jonathan’s family goes to our church and this little boy is proof that what the doctors diagnose isn’t always correct. He has a TON of issues, but guess what – HE’S A FIGHTER!!!!!! And Jonathan happily celebrated his 1st birthday this summer – cake, beach and all!!!

  7. With teary eyes, my heart is breaking for the heartache that your family is enduring. Still my heart is rejoicing in knowing God continues to make known his perfect will for both Jules life and the lives of you, her parents.God has all the tiny details in his control and knows exactly the best time to call Juliet Faith home to live with Him.We are rejoicing too that God saw fit to answer prayers and you were able to deliver a live baby, to hear her sweet precious voice, and to bring her home for these difficult but very precious hours. Thank you Ali and Ryan for blessing us and many others with your pregnancy story. During dark times in this chapter of your lives, when things were hard to understand,you always remained faithful and trusted in Jesus. Your strong faith has been a witness to many. It may be soon that Jules will anchor your hearts in Heaven ~ we continue to keep you covered in prayer.

  8. Ryan and Allie,
    Juliet is so precious and beautiful. I stumbled on your blog today and reading it brings back so many memories. I too had a child with Trisomy 18. Colten was born alive and blessed us with the joy of his life for 8 days. When I read you posts about the pregnancy and diagnosis it is all too similar. Especially the part when the physician asked if we would continue with the pregnancy!?! Anyways…. Congratulations on her birth, she is perfect! Enjoy every moment as they are all precious. I will pray for her and for your family that God continues to bring you through this bitter sweet journey. Take care and God bless. She is a lucky lady, not only that she is close to being home, but also that all she really gets to experience so much love from all of you.

  9. I, too, found your blog on our Thirty-One Director’s page. I was so touched and inspired by your journey. I am amazed with the strength you’ve shown and shared so eloquently. I pray for your family and sweet Jules. She is so beatuiful, and absolutely perfect – created as the Lord intended her to be.

    I pray that your family is able to cherish this time you have been granted with your sweet girl, and that she is given comfort and peace.

    I firmly believe that everything happens as part of a greater plan. I don’t know what the plan is for your family and your blessed baby girl, but you have inspired many!

    I will continue to follow your journey, thank you for sharing it.

  10. What a truly beautiful and blessed little girl to have so many people praying for her and for you all. For some people it takes a whole lifetime to learn the amazing love of God, but for your little one only a moment, and no confusion will there ever be. I understand why her doctor was a little jealous. This world is exquisite and amazing but where she is going- there is no comparison. Bless you on your journey and know that you are in our prayers as we pray unceasingly.

  11. We lost out 4th child to Trisomy 18 six months ago. Our little Sean Vincent came 7 weeks early and stayed on earth with us for just under 2 hrs. Your reading your journey is so much like my own. Facing the unthinkable is only possible through grace. I pray that you’ll have it in abundance for this next part of your journey. Six months later, people are still telling us how much our sons life meant to them, as I’m sure your daughter’s life effect so many as well. While we miss him and wish he could be with us here, we have so much peace knowing he was here for exactly as long as he was supposed to be, doing exactly what the Lord intended for him to do, and the only thing he knew of the world was the warm embrace of his families love before being held in the warm embrace of our heavenly Father. God bless you all!

I’m praising God so much that you were able to meet you sweet Juliet in this world and even more that you’ve been able to share hours and now days with her! Continue to lean on Him through the ups and downs and know that so many people are praying for your special Juliet and your whole family. Blessings!

    Psalms 34
    15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
    and his ears are attentive to their cry;
    17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
    he delivers them from all their troubles.
    18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
    and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
    19 The righteous person may have many troubles,
    but the Lord delivers him from them all;

  15. Ardis (Olson) Johnson

    We have learned to know Ruth Krause in WI, and knew Chester & Margaret, great grandparents of Jules, who were missionaries and loved dearly by many. You have been and are in our prayers, as you continue to trust God. Your faith has been an inspiration.

  21. I’m so happy to hear that you’ve been able to meet your sweet little Jules, that you’ve been able to bring her home, to love on her, that she’s been able to meet her Momma, Daddy, brother, and sister.

    I pray that God brings you the peace and strength you need in the coming days, weeks, and months as HIS perfect plan is carried out with your precious baby, Juliet Faith.

    Know that a multitude of people–including those like me whom you’ve never met–are lifting you and your family up in prayer every day. I can’t help but think of how many people have been touched by your story, and in doing so, have been touched by God’s grace. They may not even know it yet, but little Jules may just be the most important person to ever touch their lives. He truly does have a perfect master plan.

    God’s peace and blessings on you as you continue to let God’s light shine through you and your family and onto others who may be struggling, hurt, angry, or lost. You truly are an inspiration.

  25. Allie,

    Hi sweetie, I am Emily Allen’s sister. We met when I visited MN a little while back, and I have been praying for you and your family ever since. I just wanted you to know that. I am glad that Sweet Juliet is here and that your family is able to have some time with her. I can’t imagine all of the feelings involved right now, so just know that my family and I are holding you and Ryan and your babies close to our hearts.

  26. I am speechless. All I can do is sit here and weep. Weep with tears of joy at the sight of your beautiful, perfect little girl, weep with tears of sorrow for you, knowing you have to say goodbye, weep knowing that she will soon know the PERFECT one and will have a new body. Precious Juliet’s story has already touched so many, the ripple affect of what God is doing has only begun.

    Juliet goes where God and glory shines, to one eternal day.
    This failing body she now resigns, for the angels point her way.
    (Adapted from Absent From Flesh by Sojourn Music)

    No other words seem appropriate, just know that I am praying. So many are praying.

    Love & Grace
