Secret Project Revealed

Ryan sent me a message one day of a picture from Facebook Market of a $300 tube slide saying, "We need this".

Next thing I know he's leaving first thing in the morning to drive an hour away to pick up this 26 piece tub slide!!

Mind you its's not like we have a million other projects going on this summer, so why not add a waterslide project to the mix;) He saw the fun it could be, I needed a little more time haha.

Looking back now this turned into such a great Ryan + Tate project. Tate got to learn from the best on how to engineer something like this hands on! Amazing life lessons.

So, She came looking like this, Blue, Red and Tan. All 26 pieces. You know what my instant thoughts were "she will get a makeover" ;)

But the first task is for Ryan and Tate to figure out how they were going to come up with a platform to stabilize it in the water, that will be tall enough.

They started with creating the structure of the tube they wanted because came with many pieces, it was really customizable. They decided on a structure of the slide, so now was time to brainstorm the base plan for this 15foot long slide.

They brainstormed and brainstormed and then all of the sudden - he got it! Ryan can up with the plan! The main concern was to make sure that the base didn't tip from one side or the other. They used treated lumber and started with the front base and worked their way to the back tall side, getting it nice and sturdy so no accidents would happen.

The last part of the boys job was to come up with a way to get water at the top of the slide otherwise it's dry and wont slide. They came up with the idea to create a pump that pumps water from the lake through a hose to the top of the water slide. They found a pump from Runnings a 330 gallons per hour pump. Smaller but perfect for this project. You just plug it in with an extension cord that runs from power at the cabin and away you go. Guess what they figured it out in no time!! Such smart guys I tell ya. Everyone was grinning ear to ear at this point in the process!

It took them 2 days to get all of that done! Now it is my turn!

Ryan has the fun ideas and then I get to make them pretty! There is no way I was going to let that thing stay Blue and Red LOL.

I tapped off the skylight window and then started with a plastic primer first on the entire exterior.

Then Ryan offered to haul it out for me, and boy did that make a difference finishing on dry ground.

Then I used my favorite little Homeright paint sprayer with exterior white paint.

I also stained the lumber structure with a basic outdoor stain.

Of course, I had to do a brand it;) But that task was a tad challenging! Balance the projector on the later while I stenciled standing on the ladder in the dark. But we got it!! Back into the water we go!

Doesn't she look 100% times better! And surprise she found a new homebase at our other dock! It just made more sense to have it over there with the steps right next to it so the kiddos (and adults!) can get out easily! Oh do we have some happy kids around here + let's be honest Ryan is probably just as happy LOL!

The name "the slip'n slide" just fits ever so perfectly and it makes my heart oh so happy to have the slide branded!!

Project Cost Breakdown:

Slide = $300

Pump = $100

Lumber = $100

Paint = $50

LED lights for inside the tube = $20

Total: $570

We are in this thing for under $600! We looked up basic waterslides not even tube waterslides and the basic model sells for over $3,000+++

So, I'd say that a pretty great win all around, everyone is happy!

Lundeen Waterpark now open for business!!

If you missed it, Tate videoed the entire thing and made it into a YouTube Video. You don't want to miss it.
