THE BOYS ROOM MAKEOVER PART 2

The boy rooms makeover continues!

As you may have noticed the boy's area in the house in getting a little bit of a makeover! It is time to share part 2 today,

But first if you missed the first section reveal of the room you will want to check that post out first.

You can click right HERE to see that! (Photo below of the first reveal)

Ta da!! Here it is revealing part 2!

It's turned out to be such a fun and well used place for both of the boy. You can tell by some of the photos they have already put their finishing touched on! Legos, stickers, schoolbooks etc.! Tate does school here every day and Beckett loves to do Legos here as it's a safe place for creations to not get knocked over;)

Okay let's see some more of the space shall we!

How we made their custom desk! The Butcher block we got from Menards as always. We got a 6' and 8' piece and then cut them to size. Our original plan was to do a long desk against the long wall. Then we can to the realization it would make more sense for space if we did more of an L shape. So, we went with that!

I used my whitewash stain combo. I've shared this before. If you would like exact formulation and details, you can read it over here on this blog post. I have used this method for so many things, out great room beams, in Sweet Caroline and now on the boy's desk. I love the tones it gives off pairing well with cool and warm tones.

We got most of the stuff from IKEA. Including the storage compartments on both sides! You can find those HERE.

I found a similar one off of Amazon if you don't have an IKEA nearby to grab the ones we have. We also snagged 3 of these legs to add to the butcher block in the corner for support.  They are an amazing deal at only $7.50/piece.

This was literally the easiest DIY ever.  I would put it at beginner level.  All we used for tools was a table saw to cut the butcher block to length, and a drill to screw in the legs.  It took us longer to assemble the IKEA drawers than it did to make the desk:) Since the weight of the butcher block is pretty heavy, we didn't even need to secure it to the drawer segments.  We just set it on top and screwed the legs in the corners.  It took us about 30 minutes to assemble and it looks like a custom desk!

I also got this pegboard system from IKEA that I hung above each boy's area! I snagged a bunch of different compartments you can hang on them for all sorts of different accessories too! A smart way to keep things off of the desk and because we know boys, they love to have all the little trinkets, so thing helps a lot with keeping things in a spot and a tad organized.

These Swing Arm Lights are off of Amazon, I wanted Tate and Beckett to be able to have 2 lights to use over their space. These are great for that use!

These chairs are probably the crowd pleaser in my head. It is amazing what adding something as simple as a chair can add such dimension and completion to a space. The faux brown leather, wooden legs, and touch of black metal yup I am sold and so happy I went with this option!

Also, the baskets are their garbage can, smart idea right;) cute but still practical!

Wall hanging details.

The cute "L" banner is off of Etsy you can customize to your liking which I thought was a fun addition.

"Bind my wandering heart to thee" is from Dear Mushka. I got the banner above the boys' beds from there too.

have had this "strong + courageous" sign for forever and have been waiting for the perfect spot. It is from CarlyJean Los Angeles
