The Cabin on Dunns - Christmas

Allie Lundeen • November 23, 2024

Christmas has come to the cabin on Dunns.  I wasn't going to go overboard but once I got going it was so fun to see it decked out.  This is the first year that our cabin is insulated and ready to use year round, and that we will be able to enjoy being snuggled in during snowstorms and enjoy the new gas fireplace and hot tub!  And this is the first year YOU can enjoy it too! If you want to plan a little girls weekend, or mother daughter getaway, or even a romantic night with your hubby, it's  the perfect spot to snuggle in.

I knew a christmas tree would be tight in the cabin, so I decided to add it to the porch where you could also enjoy it as soon as you walked in, and from the couch snuggling watching a movie.  I loved the idea of a Charlie Brown type tree in here and found this pre-lit one that was just perfect! Find the tree with all of the ornaments I used to decorate it below.

I have found that the best way to decorate is to invest in beautiful greenery.  I have found some of the most realistic faux greens that make it beautiful year after year.  I added my favorite greenery below.  I love the pine garland for over windows, doors and light fixtures.  The cedar is beautiful on mantels, and the sprigs are perfect sprinkled everywhere!

This is just one sprig of cedar with a pretty brown bow tied around it.  It makes a lamp festive!

I used one 5' garland of pine along with a garland of bells from hobby lobby to dress up the chandelier.  Also, a great trick to add christmas anywhere is to take a serving dish and add in whatever ornaments you have left along with some faux sprigs.  I actually used one cedar sprig from above and ripped each piece off the main stem and added it to the bowl on the table.  It cost me $6 and things I had to make a beautiful centerpiece! I also loved this doorknob bell set to bring festivity to any door and also let you know when someone is entering:)

The Kitchen and Living room here at The Cabin on Dunns is so airy and bright which I love!

A garland above the sink window with a few pine/cedar sprigs here and there along with a couple decor pieces and this kitchen is set for Christmas!

Most of the furniture sources here at the cabin have stayed the same for a long time. But at the end of this blog post I will link what I can and what's still available!

I snagged these beautiful Hearth and Hand Scalloped dishes. They come in this color as well as a dark green. So Beautiful!

This living space has gotten a mini facelift before we made it live on LundeenLakeRentals this winter.

A different rug, chairs and light fixture. The couch is years old from Ikea that we can't part with as its a fold out and we use it when our entire family sleeps here!

It honestly it amazing how much a single garland can make a space so festive! We didn't have space for the tree in the living room so a garland and a few decor items was the ticket!

We have this Bluetooth speaker at all of our rentals so far and boy is it a hit! The men and teen sons tend to love this! It has quite an amazing sound capability! A great investment piece for a home.  Plus I love the vintage vibe it has.  It also comes in black and gold like we have at Lakeside Cottage.

I love this view! Ryan and I stayed here on our anniversary and we watched a Christmas movie on the TV (right of the fireplace) then on the left of the fireplace you could see the twinkle of the Christmas tree while sitting on the couch1 So magical, this place still holds its title as my favorite place!!
