CHRISTMAS CLEAN UP

allie • January 4, 2016

Well, I just took my Christmas tree down today.  And honestly, it was a little painful.  Our real tree this year was an allstar, and wasn’t dropping any needles yet.  We finally got snow outside and the days are still soo short, I was tempted to leave it up til the end of January:)  Twinkle lights are my favorite:)  I must say though, now that it’s done, it feels good.  Opens up the living room again and gives the kids a little more space to play.

Since I seem to be so behind  already, I snagged a few pictures of Kynlees room for Christmas that I never quite got around to getting up, so I thought I’d show just a few before that comes down too!

She didn’t get much, but a few touches made it festive enough…

I love this JOY pillow from H&M.  It had just enough sparkle:) And we added a whimsical white tree that Grandma found for her…

My mom always made sure we had a small tree in each of our rooms when we were kids. They are the perfect night lights:)

and I had a few feather accessories from last year that I didn’t find a home for, so they were perfect in here..

and a little whimsy on the dresser..

Hey, better late than never right?

We are off to Arizona for a few days, hoping to catch just a few rays of sunshine while we are there! But when we get back, I’ve got some fun developments happening in our household…besides the bun that’s almost cooked! Man how time flies:)

Happy New Year!

The Oaks final outdoor reveal
By Allie Lundeen August 14, 2025
I pulled off the biggest surprise I've ever done... I can't believe it!! So a little back story - 17 years ago Ryan sold his prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my job and we went from 2 incomes down to 1 income. We knew that a 2 person convertible just wasn't practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. So we sold it... Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car on Facebook Marketplace In great condition! He drove almost 3 hours to pick it up with a buddy and pulled off the best surprise ever!!! Also to note Tate has never driven through the Twin Cities or Driven a stick shift on any road besides a gravel one close to the cabin. BUT he was confident and crushed the challenge!! We stored it for the night and gave it to him the next day! I think Ryan's reaction says it all (watch the mini vlog below!) Our "19th" anniversary isn't until November but what fun is a convertible if you can't drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! *make sure to read until the end for a good laugh ;)
