WE BOUGHT A WHAT?!?

IMG_5701

A cabin.  We bought a cabin!!  And trust me, it’s still surreal to us.  It actually came about like this…. Ryan and Tate go out fishing on their favorite fishing lake.  Hubby sees a for sale sign on the lakeshore of an amazing lot.  Hubby looks up MLS listing and sends me a photo of the cabin interior.  Wifey sees all tongue and groove vaulted ceilings with beams and immediately says SOLD! Haha…well, that’s the condensed version.  The long version is this.  We … Continue Reading »

FALL HOME TOUR–FALL FARMHOUSE DECOR

IMG_6219

Fall is my favorite season, I love the colors, the smell, the cooler weather.  I love everything about it, everything except that it’s my busiest season.  So lately I’ve been wishing away the last few weeks of fall and I”m kinda sad about that.  One of these years I’ll figure out how to balance out my work load.  This just wasn’t the year. So, I’m late to the fall decor game.  Not because my house hasn’t been decorated, but because I haven’t had … Continue Reading »

OUR MASTER BEDROOM FULL REVEAL

20536073_10213704909473888_1566377094_o

Well it’s about time.   The pics of our master bedroom are finally together and I thought I’d source everything for you:) So we have a bit of a hallway walking into our bedroom… We hung two pendant lights in the hallway from Target, and I just checked, and right now they are on clearance for $35! I’ve also gotten a lot of questions about our floors, and I fell in love with them when I saw Layla from Lettered Cottage put them … Continue Reading »

MASTER BATH REVEAL

IMG_7252

Well, this little bathroom of ours is the smallest “new” space that we created, and the most time consuming.  How ironic.  It’s probably the most costly as well:)  Why is that?!?  We decided that anytime you do anything “custom”…the clock ticks slower and the wallet drains faster, even when you do it all yourself!  But this time around we knew a few things we wanted to spend the time on….and money…such as the shower. So here’s a before shot of where the bathroom … Continue Reading »

GREAT ROOM REVEAL

IMG_7179

Ahhhh!!!! I can’t even believe I am typing this post, because this post means that we are DONE with our addition!  And by done, I mean there are still projects to do this summer with outdoor work and some random different things, but visually, 99% of everything looks complete. You may have noticed I haven’t posted much since we’ve been working on this addition.  And honestly most of it has been because I just haven’t had a spare minute.  It’s so much quicker … Continue Reading »

WE FINALLY MADE ROOM FOR RUBY SUE!!!!

IMG_7128

You guys, I feel like I’ve been using the hashtag, #makingroomforrubysue forever over on my instagram account @prvbsthirtyonegirl.  And I feel like this project has been going on FOREVER.  In all honesty, with doing 90% of the work ourselves, it’s probably pretty good that we are wrapping up one floor within 8 months! ha!  That sounds like such a long time:)  But….there are definite perks to taking your time.  One, I’ve realized that as I get to gaze at the ever blank walls … Continue Reading »

CHRISTMAS DECORATING

img_7095

This year I struggled to get my Christmas post up.  I have had the decorations up for weeks now, and actually the pictures taken for quite some time as well.  But for some reason I just couldn’t write my post.  Every time I tried I drew a blank.  And then I started seeing all of blog land posting gorgeous photos and then I started to get self conscious.  My photography skills aren’t as good.  My decor isn’t as high end.  I don’t use … Continue Reading »

THE SMALLEST COMMAND CENTER EVER

img_6747

So the addition is coming along….slowly but surely.  We actually had some great progress this weekend when a few friends came to help Ryan, and they got our whole master suite sheet rocked!!  All the praise hands for white on the wall.  So stay tuned for that sneak peek.  But, awhile ago I switched where the command center was in our house.  If you remember, I added this little spot to our house 3 years ago now, and it worked great for a … Continue Reading »

A SMALL PEEK AT MY FALL DECOR

img_6723

Per usual, I’m so behind.  Anyone else?!?  Please tell me I’m not alone:)  I decided it is impossible to have a clean house with 4 kids.  Impossible.  So to try to get pictures in a timely manner is even harder.  I finally shipped my kids out one day to a sitter, and I cleaned.  I told Ryan I don’t need a cleaning lady, I just need a day care  for a few hours so I can clean.  And be.  Just be, in my … Continue Reading »

THE EXTERIOR IS *ALMOST* DONE!

img_6633

You guys…we’ve been giving er over here!  I’ve been working on Whimsy like crazy since the Christmas sale is coming in a little over two weeks, and the hubs keeps plugging away on the addition.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, but it is a slllloooooowwww process when you do it all yourself.  Soooo many times I told the hubs lets just take out a loan and pay for a few things to be done…haha…shows my patience.  But, we are … Continue Reading »

MAKING A TRANSOM WINDOW FOR $10 AND A LIVING ROOM UPDATE

img_6391

I did a project quite a while back that I have never showed you guys yet, and thought it was finally time…because it’s one that I am super happy with how it turned out:)  When we bought the farmhouse I was super happy with all of the tall windows it had.  It let in sooo much light.  I especially liked this HUGE window they had put in the living room area. Throwing it waaaaaayyy back to when we first moved it! But you … Continue Reading »

A VACATION AT MY PARENTS NEW HOUSE

IMG_6524

I packed myself, a trailer, and 4 kids to head to Wisconsin this last week.  We were on the road to do our first Whimsy Green trunk show.  Although I was excited to do the trunk show, I was almost more excited to be staying at my parents house.  You see, I grew up in Mosinee, Wisconsin and we lived in the same house our whole lives.  It was a great house, super spacious, and on the Wisconsin River.  When we all moved … Continue Reading »

WHIMSY GREEN TRUNK SHOW

IMG_6424

This past weekend we had our first ever Whimsy Green trunk show.  We packed up two mini vans, one trailer, and 9 kids, to our hometown of Mosinee, Wisconsin.  My parents graciously allowed us to set up in their garage…which I might add practically looks better than my living room! ha!  They recently built a new house that I am blogging about next! Their garage is dry walled, painted, and trimmed out.  It was a bit of a different aesthetic than our wood barn … Continue Reading »

MAN CAVE UPDATE

IMG_6299

Well the man cave is almost complete.   We tried to get as much of it done as we could before we started the addition.  And there was quite a bit we had done before that I never updated you on.  So I thought I’d share with you where it’s at today. We added this bar table behind the sectional that we made out of 2×4’s and some pipe legs Ryan got from work. It works great for extra seating and also for … Continue Reading »

ADDITION UPDATE–THE FRAMING IS DONE!

IMG_6330

Oh my goodness what a week we had!  Summer Whimsy sale was this past Thursday and Saturday, and my brother-in-law and his boys have been here the last two weeks working on framing our house!  This process has been amazing because it goes so fast!  I wish every step of the process was this dramatic and went this fast:)  So I thought I’d give you an update and show you what we’ve got so far… As of two weeks ago we had a … Continue Reading »

A NEW TABLE AND RUG

IMG_6234

I was going back through my blog and looking at the before and after pics, and realized a lot has changed since I did the inital “after” photo.  I guess it proves Ryans point that nothing stays the same around here for long;)  I hate that when he’s right!:)  So, I thought I’d slowly update the blog pages and show you what we’ve “changed” around here! Here is the photo I had on my before and after section on the blog.. That seems … Continue Reading »

THE EXTERIOR OF THE ADDITION

addition9

I hate when additions look like an afterthought.  When you can clearly tell the addition from the old house.  I am determined to make this flow into the house, so hopefully you can’t tell:)  The exterior of the house will look something like this… The whole left side is the new part. And my inspiration for the dormer came from this photo.. Hello pretty.  I love the cape-cod style feel these dormers give vs. the new build traditional dormer.  I’ve since learned that … Continue Reading »

MAKING ROOM FOR RUBY–THE ADDITION PLANS

IMG_7170

Wow, I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve sat down to write a blog.  Actually I feel like it’s been forever since I sat down. period. :)  But all for good reason.  Ruby has been an amazing baby…Beckett is running full force into those 2’s…and Whimsy has been growing, growing, growing.  All of which makes for a busy momma:)  So, I finally have a minute to myself (two babies napping at the same time. winning! ) and I thought I’d share our … Continue Reading »

WELCOME RUBY SUE!!

View More: http://sarahpolliophotography.pass.us/ruby-girl

Well, I am now a month late, but I thought I’d officially share our news that Ruby Sue made it safely into our family on February 23rd:)  She came fast I tell you…a little too fast for this momma!  I always thought that when people said their deliveries were so fast it was a good thing.  NOT. SO.   I mean, yay for no 24 hour laboring…but holy moly the intenseness is just that.  INTENSE! I went from my contractions being 6 minutes … Continue Reading »

A BATHROOM REFRESH

IMG_6186

There were a couple things on my “nesting” list that had nothing to do with baby, but everything to do with wanting to get it done before baby came.  One was to get shelving in our toy closet located in the living room.  We didn’t touch it since we moved in, and used the existing shelves that were in there for the last 5 years.  Every time the kids tried to get one thing out an avalanche would occur.  I dreaded it everytime! … Continue Reading »
